Maurach is part of the municipality of Eben am Achensee and is nestled in the beautiful mountain landscape of the Rofan and Karwendel mountains in the middle of the Alps. From Jenbach in the Inntal to Lake Achensee, the steam cog railway covers about 400 meters of altitude on approximately seven kilometers. A worthwhile attraction is the Notburga pilgrimage church. In the Notburga Museum in Eben/Maurach, you can learn all about the Tyrolean folk saint, the simple maid Notburga, who in the 13th century did not let her hard-hearted employers deter her from helping the poor and weak. At the Edelbrennerei Franz Kostenzer, you can learn about the production of fine spirits. The distillery offers around 70 schnapps and liqueurs.
