The Climate in Bad Tölz

The climate in Upper Bavaria is moderate and warm. In summer, you can expect average temperatures up to 25 °C in Bavaria. In winter, temperatures range between -7 and 8 °C. The town of Bad Tölz impresses with a well-maintained historic old town, where many interesting buildings are located. Particularly beautiful is the Marktstraße with its Baroque and late medieval houses of the Tölz merchants and patricians. Visit the Khanturm from 1353, the Old Town Hall, the Sporerhaus, or the Marienstift. The facades of the houses are partly richly decorated and adorned with so-called Lüftlmalerei. At the end of the street stands the monument erected in 1887 for Kaspar Winzerer III, known as the "Golden Knight." The parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt is one of the oldest buildings. Other sacred buildings such as the Holy Cross Church, the Holy Stairs, and the Leonhardikapelle should also be visited during your tour and a hike to the Calvary Mountain. The Leonhardikapelle was built in 1718 in memory of the peasant uprising of 1705. A bridge with a very old tradition, which was made of wood for several centuries but is now made of modern materials, crosses the Isar. In the bathing part of the town, there are spa facilities, a promenade hall, and the Kurhaus.

Regular exhibitions and concerts take place in the Wandelhalle of Bad Tölz. The Tölzer Marionette Theater attracts both young and old guests with wonderfully staged performances. It has been in existence since 1908. Since 2013, a Zeiss Planetarium has been located in its immediate vicinity, where simulations of the celestial bodies in our sky are shown. In Bad Tölz, there are several galleries and a city museum. The Tölz MUSEUM displays exhibits on history and crafts. Interesting topics include rafting and box making. The museum's textile collection features historical costumes, uniforms, and everyday clothing. A large part of the exhibition consists of paintings, graphics, and sculptures by regional artists from the Tölzer Land.
