Warm accommodation

The apartment leaves nothing to be desired, is well equipped with everything and pleasantly furnished. Beautiful large balcony with loungers and a wonderful view of the harbor.
The landlady was always there, very friendly and gave tips for sights and restaurants.
To say goodbye, there was even a delicious souvenir of the good time.
We can only recommend it.

A very nice vacation

A very friendly welcome awaited us in a cooled house after the long drive. The house is very clean and spacious for 7 people. The decor reminds one of "beautiful living". The room distribution is cleverly solved. The 2 bathrooms are also great. A very nice location on the outskirts of the village. Nature and an olive grove surround it. The outdoor area is spacious and beautifully designed. The pool can be seen well from the elevated terrace, so the children can't swim unsupervised. The steps in the pool also provide fun and a cooling off for children who are afraid of water. We were very pleased with the small gifts for the children that were ready in the room and in the fridge/freezer. Additional fun games and books could be used. Whenever we needed help, Sanja always helped us. Another apartment in the village for visitors was quickly found with her help. She also helped us with baking powder for the cake.

A very nice accommodation. Clean with a wonderful large terrace.
The landlord welcomed us warmly.
Around the corner there is a beautiful bay, ideal for relaxing, swimming and simply relaxing. The city of Pula is also "around the corner". Bus stops are a few steps from the apartment.

Which sights are there in Pula?

Bathing Fun and History

The "Golden Gate" is the triumphal arch of Pula. It was built as early as 29 to 27 BC. The gate is located in the middle of the old town of the Croatian town and marks the starting point of the bustling promenade. Equally historical and impressive is the Temple of Augustus on the Forum Square. The Temple of Augustus was built between 2 and 14 BC and is dedicated to Emperor Augustus and the goddess Roma. Here you get a good impression of ancient Rome. The Forum is also the main square of Pula. In ancient and medieval times, it was the hub of business in the region. The various ancient buildings and villas still exude a special flair.

Medulin is another holiday resort worth visiting. It is located only about ten kilometers southeast of Pula. Along the beach promenade, numerous bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops have settled. Particularly worth seeing are the galleries and the archaeological sites from the Roman era. Here you will also find excellent beaches, crystal clear sea, and quiet bays. Medulin and its surroundings are ideal for a day trip from your holiday apartment or house near the coast. By the way: In this region, there are also numerous apartments with a pool!

What is a must-see in Pula?

When even the Middle Ages are young

Experience a full program of historically valuable sights on a tour in the city center. Between the Forum and the upper ring road, you will find the beautiful Franciscan Church with the monastery. An impressive building from the 14th century. It is dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. Art lovers will marvel at the fine workmanship in the late Romanesque style. Similarly beautiful and impressive is the Castle of Pula - a square fortress highlighted with angular bastions. It stands on one of the 7 hills of Pula. The castle was built in 1630 to protect the city and the harbor. Today it houses the Historical Museum of Istria.

But there is also modern art to admire - for example, in the Museum of Modern Art. The museum collects artworks from the second half of the last century to the very latest masterpieces of modern artists. Admission costs only 2.65€ for visitors over 7 years old. Underneath the castle are the ruins of the small Roman theater. The remains of the foundation and parts of the auditorium are still preserved. An impressive testimony to history! Under the theater is the house of the former German high school. Since 1930 it has been home to the Archaeological Museum of Istria, which is currently closed for renovations (as of November 2023). Prehistoric, ancient, and early medieval archaeological monuments are displayed here.

Where can I eat out in Pula?

The cultural and geographical diversity of Istria is reflected in the menus of the local restaurants. In many accommodations, you can choose from a rich buffet for breakfast and dinner. In addition to international standard dishes, there are also some local specialties - such as Pršut, risotto, or Maneštra. The locals eat a lot of fish, always with olive oil. Often also with spicy herbs (bay leaf, parsley, or garlic). Small sardines, marinated in a sauce of onions and wine, are considered a delicacy.

Especially noble are the dishes with small white fish: sea bream (orada), dentex (zubatac), sea bass (brancin), or sole (list). However, seafood dishes in restaurants are usually considerably more expensive than meat dishes. Croatia is no longer a cheap travel country. For a menu of appetizer, main course, dessert, and a drink, you pay about 15 to 20 euros per person in Istria. Affordable alternatives are the numerous snack bars, where Burek (pastry pockets filled with meat, herbs, and sheep's cheese) or Pljeskavica rolls are often sold.

All of Istria is also known as a wine country. Typical are the red Teran and the white Malvazija. But also Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, or Pinot are grown. The most famous is the Croatian wine zlatna žlahtina from Vrbnik. Seafood lovers will be happy in Fažana.
