Super great accommodation

Great 3 holiday flats, with a great shared konoba! There you can barbecue and cook together. Quickly to the sea, best reached by car, as the road is very steep, but beautiful! Super nice housekeepers, who always had an open ear and solved problems quickly (e.g. broken dishwasher).
We like to come back, we like the quiet, untouristy place very much. For markets, beach promenade etc. you have to drive a few km. Pizzaria, fish restaurant, snack bar with car in close proximity!
Only payable with kuna in the supermarket, pizzeria or EC card. However, there is an EC machine at the entrance to the village! Thanks for this great holiday, despite Corona ;-)

A dream!

The house is a dream, far away from mass tourism. We have discovered several beautiful lonely beaches nearby. A small shop with everything you need is within walking distance. The view next to the chapel Sv. Agneza is something special. Rakalj is the right place if you prefer rural tranquility. Tourist hustle and bustle is about 30 minutes away by car.

House Takala, a dream in Istria

We visited the House Takala in June 2020 and felt very comfortable there. We found a lovingly furnished cottage with a lot of charm. The lovingly decoration left nothing to be desired. Even if the houses next door are occupied, you have peace and privacy. It is less than 2 kilometers to the beach. We can absolutely recommend the House Takala.

How is the weather in Rakalj?

Especially in the summer months between May and September, the coast of Istria enjoys pleasant warm and dry weather with daytime temperatures around 27°C - perfect for a beach vacation in Rakalj. Water temperatures of 26 to 28°C in the protected Bay of Raša make a swimming vacation a real pleasure. In winter, temperatures in Istria can be quite cold, but daytime temperatures below 10°C are rare. The infamous Bora wind blows cold downdrafts from the mountains across the Adriatic from autumn to spring, which can reach storm strength.

Among the wines, the white malvasia and the žlahtina from the island Krk are highly regarded by connoisseurs.

Winged lions, old palaces, and pottery

In 1797, Napoleon brought about the decline of the Republic of St. Mark. In the centuries before, the Venetians shaped the entire Adriatic region. The winged lion of St. Mark can be found across Istria, for example, above house entrances. The Old Rakalj (Stari Rakalj) is a ruin situated on a hill above the beach, offering fantastic panoramic views of the Adriatic and the hinterland. In recent years, more and more remains of Old Rakalj have been excavated. In the town center, there is a 16th-century noble palace which houses the municipal magistrate. Rakalj was long famous for its pottery. An ethnographic collection in the birthplace of writer Mijo Mirković houses an exhibition on the cultural history of the town. Pula's history dates back to antiquity, and a visit is worth it, especially to see the Amphitheater, which used to hold more than 20,000 spectators.
