Ein wunderschönes Urlaub

After a warm welcome from Marino and his wife, we had the pleasure of being guests in their beautiful Villa Bergena. The cleanliness throughout the house and the well-kept property are truly outstanding. The air conditioning worked perfectly and could be controlled individually. The provision of towels, pool towels, shower gel, toothbrush cups rather resembles a hotel than a vacation home. Just fantastic! The kitchen facilities left nothing to be desired. Balls, boccia, badminton, beach ball... and even a pump to inflate our pool stuff was available. The glazed terrace was an absolute highlight and our favorite space. The pool worked perfectly and was sparkling clean all week. We used the beautiful grill a few times, buying fresh and typical Croatian meat and sausages from the butcher "Bakin" in Medulin. It's about a 3-minute drive by car and also cheaper than at the supermarket across the street. For us, a wonderful vacation in a beautiful green environment with absolute privacy. We will come back!

Beautiful vacation in Croatia

The Petar apartment was very nice and very clean, it had everything you needed. Even a hairdryer was available. The pool was large enough and always kept clean. There were plenty of sun loungers available. Outside on the communal terrace, there was a large gas grill (gas provided) that could be used. Very quiet location.

Litzenjan is a small village that has a bakery and several small markets where you can still buy little things. The beach (Liznjan) is about 1.5 km away.
Those who are good at walking can easily walk there.
Very clean beach with lovely bars.
Liznjan is a good starting point for trips. Pula, Medulin (a few km away) with a beautiful harbor, Cape Kamenjak or other places. Rovinj is highly recommended, a great city with a beautiful view from the church.

Our stay at Villa Bonaca in Medulin was simply fantastic! The accommodation is very well maintained and impeccably clean. The furnishings are stylish and offer plenty of space for 8 adults. Particularly notable is the dreamy pool, which provided us with many relaxing hours. The service was first-class, thanks to the friendly father who lives directly across the street and was always ready to help us. We will definitely come back!

Which sights are there in Medulin?

Soak up the sun and culture

Medulin will surely impress you during your holiday with its beach, sea, and sun. But there is more to discover on the Vižula peninsula. In the middle of Medulin Bay, there is an archaeological excavation site where you can visit the remains of an ancient village.

Nature enthusiasts should definitely visit the Brijuni National Park. It comprises a total of 14 islands, with Veli Brijun being the largest. Here, for example, you can marvel at a safari park or the Mediterranean Garden.
You can reach the island best by ferry from Fazana, which runs regularly between April and October from 6:45 am to 11 pm. In the winter months, the last ferry leaves at 3 pm. (As of October 2023)

You should also not miss the picturesque town of Rovinj on the west coast of Croatia. For many holidaymakers, Rovinj, with its beautiful promenade and romantic old town, is one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia.

What is a must-see in Medulin?

But art and culture are not neglected on the Croatian Adriatic either. Throughout the year, there are several concerts, sporting events, and traditional festivals. The most famous is the Medulin Night, which takes place on the last weekend in July on the promenade. (As of October 2023)

In nearby Pula, there is the Museum of Modern Art of Istria. Here, artworks from the second half of the 20th century to the very latest masterpieces are on display. The museum is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. (As of October 2023)

The biggest cultural highlights take place in the Arena of Pula, the Amphitheater. Today, it hosts major events, concerts, and performances. A permanent exhibition can also be found there.

Where can I eat out in Medulin?

Get to know Istria's culinary delights

Special local specialties include risotto, pršut, or maneštra. The dishes are usually prepared with olive oil, a mix of herbs such as garlic, parsley, and bay leaves, and sometimes even with homemade wine.
Dentex, sole, sea bream, or sea bass are considered specialties when it comes to fish dishes. The menus feature many delicacies from the local sea.

If you prefer something cheaper and faster, you can also use one of the numerous snack bars near the beach while watching the sailors. Here, for example, you can get burek, pastry pockets filled with meat, herbs, and sheep's cheese.

But Istria is also a wine country. Typical examples are the red and white Malvazija, which you can enjoy in your holiday apartment in Medulin. The most famous wine on the Kvarner Bay is the zlatna žlahtina from Vrbnik (Island of Krk). But Pinot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, or Sauvignon are also grown here.
