In the center of Stinjan is a small market square (Stinjanska placa), which is a good starting point for walks through the relaxed town. Worth seeing are the parish church of St. Margaret and the Stinjan parish church, as well as the Saliz street, which runs through the entire old town with its ancient stone slabs. Go on a historical discovery tour in the neighboring Pula. The city's landmark is the Roman amphitheater from the time of Emperor Augustus. The building had space for 23,000 spectators and is still used today. The Sergius Arch dates back to around 29 BC. The Temple of Augustus was built around the time of Christ's birth. The Archaeological Museum of Istria (AMI) provides a good overview of the Roman period in Istria. The museum displays an exhibition with over 3,000 exhibits from the time between Roman rule and the early Middle Ages. After the city tour, it's time for nature, for a visit to the Brijuni Islands and the eponymous national park. The island group of 14 islands is a diving paradise and, in addition to breathtaking nature, offers exciting cultural-historical remains from several millennia. During the monarchy and later, when Brijuni belonged to Italy, there was a winter spa and one of the largest golf courses in Europe on the islands. After the Second World War, head of state Tito received numerous state guests and Hollywood celebrities on Brijuni (Italian Brioni).
The Pula–Medulin region is perfect for a family holiday. Numerous beaches, islands, small bays, picturesque villages and historical cities provide plenty of variety. Within walking distance of your holiday apartment in Stinjan, there is the pebble beach Vile Stinjan with water sports facilities and sun lounger rental. To the north of Stinjan is a dog beach – ideal for a holiday with a dog in Stinjan. Many landlords have their own pets and warmly welcome your four-legged family members. The forests on the hills southeast of Pula offer numerous marked hiking trails past abandoned villages, through chestnut groves and to viewpoints with panoramic views of the Adriatic and the islands of the Kvarner Bay.
Istria is a true gourmet paradise. The Adriatic is still (relatively) rich in fish when traditional fishing methods are used, the meadows provide excellent beef, and the forests supply truffles, porcini mushrooms and sweet chestnuts. Along the coast near your holiday home in Stinjan, you can still find Konobas (rustic simple restaurants) where the owner himself goes fishing. As a starter for whole grilled fish (e.g. sea bass or sea bream), you should try the sheep's cheese from the island of Pag (paški sir). Typical fish dishes include brodet, a fish stew with various small fish and/or shellfish, cooked with onions, garlic, herbs and olive oil. Mussels or scampi are often cooked in a broth of onions, garlic, olive oil and tomatoes. Meat and fish dishes dominate the menus. Nevertheless, vegetarians will also find something, for example with truffles, risotto with wild asparagus or tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms. Wine drinkers should try the Vrbnička Žlahtina from the island of Krk or the Malvazija Istriana, a dry white wine with seductive floral notes.
