Arrival was fine, had to wait because of crowds. Accommodation was only delivered in December and was fully booked for the following weeks because some small things were not yet in order. The apartment has a fantastic location in the extensive village of Gosau. The ski bus stops at the door, but with the car it is also easy to drive to the slopes. Apartment is fully equipped and spacious.The ski area Dachstein West is very nice and the slopes are very wide.

How do I come to Gosau?

At the World Heritage Site


Gosau is a municipality in the Gmunden district of Upper Austria. The town is located in the Gosau valley in the Traunviertel, in a side valley of Lake Hallstatt. The region is in the Inner Salzkammergut and thus on the edge of the World Heritage Site Hallstatt-Dachstein Salzkammergut. If you drive by car to your holiday home or apartment, you can follow the Gosaukamm, which will take you to Gosausee. The nearest airports are Salzburg (about 65 kilometers away) and Linz (about 125 kilometers). An arrival by train is also an option: take the Salzkammergut railway to Steeg/Gosau station. On the Dachstein, further hikes are available, such as the Panoramaweg (7 km), Gosaubachweg (6.3 km), around the Gosaukamm (24 km), or on the Hohe Kalmberg (6.4 km). In winter, we recommend cozy walks through the guaranteed snowy Gosau valley. At the local history museum, you can delve deep into regional history. It's also cultural in the church quarter. The Catholic and Protestant churches here tell their own history and offer a fascinating view of the Gosaukamm. The shop of the oldest stone and marble turnery in Austria is interesting, with fossils and rocks from the surroundings available for purchase. The store is right next to the Gosau tourist office. Those planning excursions during their vacation can visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt, Obertraun at the foot of Krippenstein, the imperial city of Bad Ischl, Lake Wolfgang, Lake Altaussee, or Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt.
