it was a very good holiday, visiting the Halstatt and the salt cave is a must, especially for children. Impressive also the Dachstein, where it stayed on the roof of Austria / watched. There, the avid hikers but also the less experienced their heart's content. We were lucky with the weather and even swim in the kunnnen meer.Kortom a fantastic holiday

We were kindly received at the reception. The holiday park is in a beautiful spot on the lake. Enough to see and do in the omgeving.De accommodation is top. The house is spacious and very nice that all bedrooms have their own bathroom. The sauna in the cottage is delicious. Definitely recommended.

We have been past spring break 2013 in the chalet Attersee, and that was just fine, just a pity that this property has no sauna. What I missed was a freezer in the refrigerator. Furthermore house was perfect and fully equipped, all the kitchen needs, self-oven dishes, cheese grater, garlic press ... even the TV channels RTL 4, 5 and 6 sbs .. Compliments to the owner, we have a very fine had a holiday and go definitely come back.

How is the weather in Obertraun?

The climate on Lake Hallstatt and the Dachstein Salzkammergut region is moderate with warm summers and cold winters. Summers are particularly suitable for hiking. The average daytime maximum temperatures between May and September are over 21-25 °C, with July being the rainiest month. Lake Hallstatt has a water temperature of 18 °C during the bathing season. The best time to travel for a ski holiday in Obertraun is between Christmas and Easter, with temperatures around freezing point. The snow depths on the mountain reach up to two meters. The most snow falls in January and February.

A love for dumplings

Austrian cuisine is particularly diverse, combining influences from the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and neighboring countries. The Dachstein Salzkammergut holiday region offers everything that nature lovers enjoy: hiking, climbing, trail running, diving, stand-up paddling, mountain biking, road biking, and the new trendy sport of gravel biking. There are plenty of breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain groups. The hiking trails are ideal for a holiday with your dog in Obertraun – whether you're ambitiously climbing the highest peak in Upper Austria or taking leisurely walks around Lake Hallstatt or Lake Gosau. Koppenpass, Pötschenpass, and Pass Gschütt are all dream passes for road cyclists, and climbers will find one of the most difficult via ferratas in Austria at Seewandklettersteig. Or you can paraglide down into the valley from the Dachstein Krippenstein. In winter, the Krippenstein – Obertraun ski area attracts skiers and snowboarders with 12 kilometers of slopes and 30 km of cross-country trails. A total of seven lifts take you up to over 2,100 meters in altitude. The white mountain landscape can be explored more comfortably on snowshoes.

Natural and cultural monuments in the World Heritage region

Dreifaltigkeit was founded in the 18th century by Empress Maria Theresa. An extraordinary natural monument is the ensemble of the Dachstein caves. The Dachstein Giant Ice Cave, the Mammoth Cave, and the Koppenbrüller Cave were only discovered in the 20th century and are now among the most exciting natural monuments in Austria. The caves can be reached directly from Obertraun by cable car and a short 15-minute hike. Enjoy a panoramic view of the World Heritage region and Lake Hallstatt from the Welterbespirale viewing platform, located at the 2,100-meter-high summit of the Krippenstein, 500 meters above the valley floor.
