In summer, the Gosaukammbahn, which leads to the hiking area Zwieselalm, the front and back Gosausee with its swimming opportunities, cozy huts with perfect sun terraces and local specialties and delicacies of the regional cuisine, the adventure park "primeval forest" , the Geomuseum, Jagerbauernstadl and the provincial exhibition: Löckernmoos & Schleifsteindorf attracts. About 15 minutes away is the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Hallstatt-Dachstein. With the villages of Obertraun, Hallstatt and Bad Goisern on its shores and the Traun running through the middle, Lake Hallstatt is one of the most impressive landscape phenomena in the Inner Salzkammergut. Public bathing beaches and natural bathing facilities between Obertraun and Bad Goisern provide refreshing bathing fun - they can all be used free of charge. About 50 km to the north lies the Mozart city of Salzburg. It is rare to find such a harmonious interplay between landscape and architecture, art and culture, tradition and modernity in such a small area. In winter: The property is flat, separated by a small access road to the Gosaubach. To the bus stop it is 50 m. Within 3 minutes by bus you can reach the ski gondola Hornspitzbahn with ski school and ski rental or the Panorama-Jet Zwieselalm which leads to the family ski area Dachstein West. A cross-country ski trail runs directly behind the alpine huts. Gosau belongs with Dachstein West to the largest skiing area of Upper Austria. Situated at 700 metres above sea level (valley), the village guarantees family-friendly skiing fun and guaranteed snow until spring. The spectacular views of the Dachstein glacier, Gosausee and the peaks of Feuerkogel to Hochkönig attract not only boarders and carvers, but also numerous winter hikers, snowshoe fans and deckchair lovers.

Nice little cabin for cozy, relaxing days of recovery
The cabin is very centrally located if you want to explore the Salzkammergut. You can quickly reach the lakes but also start local with short or challenging hikes. The cabin offers small cozy bedrooms, a nice small, well-equipped kitchen, a sauna, and a lounge room with tiled stove. Outside, you can enjoy breakfast on a cozy bench or a two-person hanging swing. There is also a barbecue area for the evening. So, the perfect place to relax.

We are a married couple with three children from the west of North Rhine-Westphalia, with roots back in Austria, who decided in 2012 to realize their "crazy dream" of a fully organic "eco hut", where you can escape the hectic everyday life and the overabundance of media and come to rest as a family. After extensive planning, the construction phase began in autumn 2013. While the shell of the house was completed quite quickly, the interior work, including the furniture, proved to be a real challenge, as we wanted to build most of it ourselves from wood according to old models, and we did, although neither of us are skilled craftsmen. But we didn't let ourselves be discouraged, partly out of sheer stubbornness, and in the summer of 2014 the Lederhuberhütte was finally ready for occupancy after a huge amount of sweat, blood and splinters of wood on our part, followed by the Austadl in December. So these huts have become for us not an "investment object" but a part of our attitude to life.
