The house was fantastic. We were on site with six adults, four children, and a baby. Nothing really bothered us. The luggage had to be carried up the mountain since there was no parking available directly at the house. However, the view of the Dachstein was fantastic. Kitchen, sauna, pool, bedroom, living room, everything was top-notch. We would book the house just the same again.

Gröbming is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt–Dachstein/Salzkammergut and thus part of a fascinating cultural landscape. The church acquired its characteristic shape with the construction of the tower in the 17th century. Noteworthy are a Gothic Madonna and the Apostle Altar from the early 16th century. The Gröbming Museum provides an overview of the cultural history of the region and the life of the farmers. In the neighboring village of Öblarn is the Paula Grogger Museum. It is the home of the writer and playwright Paula Grogger.

The Styria region, with its capital Graz, is known as the green heart of Austria. This is also reflected in the culinary tradition of the state. Among the drinks, the Schilcher (or Schiller) is worth mentioning, a red wine (or rosé in the style of red wine) made from the local Blauer Wildbacher grape variety. Especially after the harvest in autumn, the young, sparkling, and not yet fermented wine is enjoyed in the Buschenschänken of the wineries and farms as Schilchersturm with roasted chestnuts. Lovers of high-proof spirits will find what they are looking for at the Mandlberggut distillery & Latschenbrennerei, which produces local whiskey as well as mountain pine and stone pine spirits.
