Diverse Climate in Upper Austria
Upper Austria is located in the area of Central European transitional climate. Due to its location on the northern edge of the Alps, the weather is significantly influenced by the Atlantic. The south lies in the zone of a pronounced north barrier, which is why there are higher precipitation amounts there. The highlands in the north are significantly more subpolar and moderate than in the Alpine region. The warmest area is the Linz Basin with an annual average of nine degrees Celsius. With the exception of the mountain regions, the average values of the remaining parts of the country (Eferdinger Basin, Alpine foothills, or Traun-Enns Plate) are between six and eight degrees Celsius. The eastern Mühlviertel and the Eferdinger Basin are the areas with the lowest precipitation.
