Wonderful house, ideal for dog owners

The house is highly recommended. Very well equipped, nothing is missing. Clean and tidy, the property is completely fenced, so the dog cannot escape. The distance to the beach is about 10 minutes on foot, to the dog beach about 15 minutes. It is also great that bicycles are available. This makes many activities even easier to carry out. There is a nice terrace with enough garden furniture and good sun umbrellas. In many windows, insect screens are installed. There is enough crockery. Unfortunately, there is no supermarket in Zempin anymore, but there is a bakery where you can also get the essentials. The landlord is very helpful and nice with questions and requests. We were there with four people and dogs and were thrilled.

A dreamlike insider tip

This beautiful accommodation, wonderfully located in a pine forest right by the beach, is equipped with everything you need and is wonderfully cozy with a fireplace and panoramic windows in the middle of the forest and with a view of the sea. We have been booking it for many years and find absolute peace and quiet there. It's only a 2-minute walk to the beach, and a forest path connects it to Zinnowitz or Koserow, making it difficult to choose between a beach walk and a walk in the forest. The hosts are 100% reliable and very warm-hearted. The accommodation is clean, nothing is missing, and the beds are very comfortable. With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, there are no morning "traffic jams," and even the teenagers will come along if they have their bathroom to themselves ;)
I would have preferred not to write this review, so that it remains "my secret place" for 100% vacation relaxation, but this accommodation definitely deserves it.
The beautiful spacious terrace offers the possibility to spread out at any time of the year. The view of the forest and the sea from every room with large bright windows is particularly beautiful. Once you've been here, you'll always come back...

Zempin's trump card is its beautiful natural surroundings and, of course, the Baltic Sea beaches. Here, everything moves at a calm, leisurely pace. The charm comes from the Achterwasser harbor, the thatched-roof fisherman's houses, the small beach promenade, and the unique Baltic Sea landscape. Otto Niemeyer-Holstein, one of the most significant German painters of the 20th century, lived and worked here. His studio is located in Lütten Ort and is a MUST-DO on your vacation list. All opening hours and admission prices can be found here. Other artists followed him and lived in Zempin. For example, his student Rosa Kühn in "Inselhof", Hugo Scheele in "Villa Baltica", and Kurt Heinz Sieger.

Start at the beach promenade of Zempin or hike along the dike on the nature trail to Zinnowitz (return trip, for example, by train). In the neighboring towns of Zinnowitz and Koserow, you can take larger boat trips with the whole family. And in the spring, there are the "Amber Weeks" in Zempin. Explore surrounding seaside resorts and fishing villages and other nearby places. Trassenheide and the Butterfly Farm there, Karlshagen, Swinoujscie, the orchid meadows, and Kölpinsee and the nature trail around Zempin are popular excursion destinations.

Where can I eat out in Zempin?

Usedom's Cuisine: Unmistakably Clear!

In Zempin, people enjoy not only fresh but also smoked fish. Accompanied by buttered Tüften (potatoes) grown on the island. Zempin has long-established smokehouses, where delicious smoked fish comes warm from the oven directly to the well-equipped kitchen of your apartment or holiday home. There is a real salt hut in Koserow, converted into a quaint fish restaurant and easily reachable on a hike from Zempin. Culinary-wise, Zemplin is no different from the coastal cuisine of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Sample the Baltic Sea specialties at various fish restaurants, such as "Taun Fischer un sin Frau", where tasty fish patties and freshly smoked dishes are served. A specialty from Usedom is the former poor man's meal, "Fischtüften", which is simply potatoes and fish. You'll be surprised at how good it tastes here. Also, the old sailor's dish from the North Sea coast, Labskaus, can be found on the menus, as well as the greeting from the DDR era, the fish stew "Fischsoljanka". The real specialty of the Baltic coast are plaice and sole. Both incredibly delicious, both severely affected by overfishing and fishing methods, so enjoy with caution (or abstain).

What is a must-see in Zempin?

Tracing the Robot Bomb

Just a stone's throw from your accommodation, whether it's an apartment or a holiday home, lies Lütten Ort (Lüttenort). It is the narrowest part of the sunny island of Usedom, where the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser almost touch. On the Achterwasser side, there is a small sports boat harbor, from where you can enjoy a delightful sailing tour or rent various boats. Those who want to embark on a special historical exploration should head to the coastal forest. There, you will find remnants of the "Peenemünde-West" weapons program, namely the catapult launch facility for the Robot Bomb Fi 103. Learn more at the Historical-Technical and Maritime Museum. Here, you can admire exhibitions about the weapons projects of the time and learn about how people lived back then. Seasonal opening hours can be found here. Admission is 10€ for adults and only 2€ for children aged 6 and up (as of December 2023).
