Are you still looking for the right holidaymakers for your holiday home or apartment?
There are numerous excursion destinations, but some of the most beautiful attractions are located in the seaside resort itself - right outside the door of your vacation apartment or house. Two of the most important and also the landmarks of the city are the Warnemünder Teepott and the lighthouse. They stand right next to each other. You can visit the lighthouse, built in 1897/98, daily from March to October from 10 AM to 6:30 PM. You should definitely do this, as it is 37 meters high and from there you have a wonderful view over the Baltic Sea beach and the harbor. After your visit to the Warnemünde Lighthouse, head for a drink at the Teepott. This architecturally impressive building is under monument protection due to its extraordinary roof construction. After refreshing, continue to the Westmole, which starts right next to the Teepott. It is 541 meters long, so you can walk far out into the Baltic Sea. At the end, there is a small mole light. If you follow the Westmole in the other direction, you will come back to the city center and automatically end up at the Old Stream. The former harbor entrance served ships for over 500 years as access to the Rostock harbor. Today, it is a popular meeting place for people of all ages. Other attractions in the city include historic buildings like the Warnemünder Church, the Vogtei from the year 1300, the Gallerieholländermühle, and the Alexandrinenstraße, which already existed when Warnemünde was still a fishing village. If the local attractions are not enough, there are many more excursion destinations in the area.
Attractions like the mentioned landmarks are great. Having the beach right outside your door is also wonderful. But what really extraordinary things happen in the seaside resort of Warnemünde? There's quite a bit, as the small town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the scene of very special events. During major events, Warnemünde and Rostock can get crowded. The first highlight of the year takes place right on New Year's Day: the Warnemünde Lighthouse Illumination. This is a spectacular light and laser show in bright colors that effectively showcases the lighthouse. If you plan to come to the Baltic Sea for New Year's Eve, you should start looking for private accommodation early to secure a nice vacation apartment. Warnemünde is a popular destination for the turn of the year. In July, sailors have their big moment. During the Warnemünde Week, over 2,000 sailors from around the world gather to show what they've got at Germany's third-largest regatta event. The event is accompanied by numerous program points such as dragon boat races, beach volleyball, and traditional parade. Even bigger is the Hanse Sail in Rostock-Warnemünde in August. Originally a folk festival, the former Hanseatic Harbor Days now attract millions of visitors. The spectacle mainly takes place at the Rostock city harbor. But Warnemünde also participates: At the passenger quay, you can admire a huge collection of cruise ships, tall ships, and traditional sailboats, as well as ferries and other large vessels. You can also marvel at freshly launched cruise ships from the shipyard.
Attractions often leave children unimpressed. It's a different story with a beautiful beach! The wider and sandier, the better. Splashing, collecting shells, and building sandcastles are the things that make little water rats happy. It's best to book a vacation apartment or house for you and your family in a quiet location and close to the Baltic Sea beach. Then the day at the water can start right in the morning. The long Westmole is also an experience for children. With the Baltic Sea on both sides, many ships and boats, and a lively atmosphere: there is always something to marvel at. With one of the excursion boats that depart from the Old Stream, you can also head out to the high seas on a sailing trip to see the town from a different perspective. Teenagers can also try out their talent as stand-up paddlers with their parents. Boards and paddles can be rented at the surf school right on the beach. Of course, courses in windsurfing or kitesurfing are also offered there, which can be booked in advance. And if it rains, why not visit an exciting family film at the Ostsee-Welten 5D Cinema? Is Bello joining you? Pets are warmly welcomed on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast and in most vacation apartments and houses. In your holiday with a dog in Warnemünde, please note that during the main season from May to September, you are only allowed to bring your four-legged friend to certain beaches. In Warnemünde, this is beach access 14. Your pet will love it here!
The typical food is influenced by the cuisine of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the sea. In the maritime ambiance of traditional restaurants, you will be served primarily fish dishes and hearty German home cooking.
There are two culinary meeting points in Warnemünde. One is the promenade at the Old Stream, lined with numerous restaurants and cafes. The other is the approximately 2 kilometers long Seepromenade, where many people gather. At the stands and kiosks, you can buy fish sandwiches with matjes, Bismarck, or rollmops, sit on a bench, and fully enjoy the snacks with a view of the Baltic Sea and the beach. Additionally, two gourmet markets take place throughout the year:
Officially known as the seaside resort of Warnemünde, this district of the Hanseatic city of Rostock is a small place on the Baltic Sea where many people spend their holidays in affordable vacation apartments or houses. It is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the Mecklenburg Bay. The city center of Rostock is just about 10 kilometers away. Popular excursion destinations such as Heiligendamm, Nienhagen, and Warnow are nearby. In Warnemünde, there is over 5 kilometers of Baltic Sea beach - plenty of space for all guests. Most vacationers who have rented a house privately in Warnemünde arrive by their own car via the federal road 103, which branches off from the A20 motorway. Alternatively, self-drivers can reach the seaside resort via the federal road 105 coming from the A19. The advantage of having your own vehicle is that you can comfortably drive right up to the door of your accommodation to unpack at ease. Additionally, you can jump into the car at any time and take a trip to the surrounding area. Consider booking a house with parking. Of course, you can also rely on public transportation. From Rostock, suburban trains and some selected trains run to Warnemünde station, the terminal stop at Alter Strom. You can reach the Hanseatic city by train, by a long-distance bus, or by plane. Rostock-Laage Airport is about 25 kilometers outside the city and is served by flights from several German cities, such as Munich, Cologne/Bonn, and Stuttgart. After landing, you can plan your journey to Rostock main station by bus or take a rental car to your accommodation.
