Are you still looking for the right holidaymakers for your holiday home or apartment?
Dierhagen, located on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula Fischland-Darß-Zingst, is surrounded by the Baltic Sea and the Bodden. In late summer and autumn, cranes pause here in the lagoons on their way to their winter quarters – a unique natural spectacle. You are also surrounded by beautiful nature in the Regnitz and Trebeltal. Or take a day trip to the Darßer Ort Lighthouse. Here, the Natureum Darßer Ort is located, which brings you closer to the flora and fauna of the region with exhibitions and Baltic Sea aquariums. Opening hours vary by season, and you can find more information on the website. Admission is €6 for adults and €3 for children and teenagers up to 16 years old (as of September 2023). You can also visit the lighthouse itself and enjoy the view from above. In addition to the historic buildings, the harbors are also worth seeing. Explore the Boddenhafen Dierhagen and take a Zeesboot ride. Zeesboats are historic fishing boats designed for fishing in the shallow Bodden waters. A trip to Wustrow or the Müritz is also worthwhile.
One of the highlights of the year is the Dierhäger Tonnenabschlagen in August. This equestrian competition attracts numerous visitors annually. It involves riding at full gallop under a festively decorated wooden barrel and striking it with wooden clubs. Whoever manages to grab the last piece of barrel wood can call themselves the Barrel King for a year. In July and August, you should also visit the medieval spectacle of the Baltic resort Dierhagen. For over a month, knight tournaments, archery competitions, axe throwing, fire shows, crafts, music, and juggling attract visitors.
The location makes Dierhagen the perfect place for a beach holiday for the whole family. The access to the water is shallow, so even the youngest can enjoy safe bathing fun. If the weather doesn't look like a beach day, you can take your children on trips to Kinderland Rostock, Bodden-Therme, or the Experimentarium Zingst. The Experimentarium offers over 70 different interactive stations for young and old. Admission is €5 for adults, €3 for children aged 3-4, and €5 for children aged 5 and up. It is open from (as of September 2023): • Tue-Sun: 10 AM – 4 PM For horse lovers, there are beach rides, and adventure seekers can have fun in the high ropes courses at Hohe Düne or Darß, or in the Stralsund skate hall. The fun doesn't stop there: every Thursday, a beach party takes place on the plateau. Many vacation apartments in Dierhagen allow dogs and other pets. The entire Fischland-Darß-Zingst region is known for being very dog-friendly and is therefore a popular destination for a holiday with dogs. In Dierhagen, there are dog beaches at beach accesses 9, 16, and 23. From October 1 to April 30, dogs are allowed on all beaches. More beaches that offer bathing fun for both two- and four-legged friends can be found in Fischland-Darß-Zingst. Additionally, the peninsula has plenty of cycling and hiking trails that are ideal for outings with the whole family.
Due to its proximity to the Baltic Sea and the Bodden, fresh fish is a popular dish here. You can buy fish to cook yourself at the Dierhäger harbor market. Down-to-earth, regional, and fresh cuisine are the hallmarks of gastronomy in Dierhagen. It is served in quaint fisherman's cottages, beach houses, or in the exclusive Baltic Lounge.
Concerts take place in the historic Brick Church from the 19th century. If you are interested in art and artists in the region, you should make a detour to the art museum in Ahrenshoop. In the Gallery in Kloster 9 in Ribnitz-Damgarten, you can gain insight into the collection of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern district. Not far away is the German Amber Museum. In the exhibition covering over 1,000 square meters, you can learn about the art and cultural history of amber. Admission is €10 for adults and €5 for children and teenagers up to 16 years old. The museum is open from (as of September 2023): • April – October: 9:30 AM – 6 PM • November – March: 9:30 AM – 5 PM (Tue-Sun) The Ribnitz Monastery Church is also worth a visit.
