Beautiful special apartment

The description and pictures of the apartment match 100 percent. It is truly special, very clean, modern, and furnished with many loving details; nothing is lacking. We felt comfortable right away. And the view of the lagoon from all the windows is fantastic.
There is a private parking space in a parking deck and a large bike cellar.
Booking through Ms. Sonnenberger was uncomplicated and very friendly. If we vacation in the area again, it will be in this apartment.

Our family spent a wonderful week here enjoying the nearby beaches and parks. The children loved the high chairs and cribs that were provided, which made our lives easier. We appreciated how comfortable everything was.

We needed some time off, and this place provided it. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The nearby beach was nice for a quick swim, and we had a lot of fun cycling to the larger Baltic Sea beaches.

Which sights are there in Barth?

Fascinating Brick Gothic and Bustling Harbor Promenade

From your private holiday apartment in Barth, it's a short walk to the Old Town with its Brick Gothic St. Mary's Church from the 13th century. The oldest wall paintings inside the church and the 80-meter-high tower are particularly worth seeing. Several carefully restored townhouses shape the alleys of Barth's historic center. During the season, Barth Information offers daily informative city tours. The dark part of German history during World War II is addressed in the Documentation and Encounter Site Barth at Bleicherwall, which hosts an exhibition about the memorials of Barth concentration camp and the POW camp Stalag Luft I. Other attractions include the medieval Dammtor, the Fangelturm, and the convent known as the Noble Maidens' Foundation from 1733. A city stroll around your holiday apartment in Barth naturally includes a visit to the harbor. Here, a promenade with restaurants and cafes invites you to linger. At the so-called Steuerhaus am Schiffsanleger, you will find Barth's tourist information.

What do you need to experience in Barth?

Experience Maritime History

In just about half an hour from your holiday apartment in Barth, you can reach Stralsund. The historic old town, along with Wismar, has been included in UNESCO's World Heritage List. The streets and alleys are lined with magnificent townhouses and cozy half-timbered houses, all lovingly restored.

What can you experience in Barth with children?

On Foot, by Bike, or on the Water

Family-friendly activities abound along the entire Baltic coast. Barth's favorable location between the Baltic Sea, the lagoon waters, and historic cities like Stralsund offers excursion destinations for the whole family, including your four-legged family members. The Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula invites you to extensive hikes and bike tours. The national park was designated during the GDR era and stretches from Darß to the island of Hiddensee and up to Rügen. In autumn, you can watch thousands of cranes stopping in the area on their way to the warm south. In the water, you'll find gray seals, harbor seals, and otters. For water enthusiasts, a canoe trip through the lagoon landscape to the port of Zingst is a must. Let yourself drift and experience the wildlife and flora up close.

Where can I eat out in Barth?

Fresh Nordic Cuisine: Fish, Game, and Potatoes

The restaurants around your affordable holiday apartment in Barth mainly feature fish from the local coastal and lagoon waters. From the Baltic Sea come cod, flounder, herring, salmon, and eel, from the lagoons carp, pike, perch, and pikeperch. In March and April, herring is particularly popular. Then, a detour to the Herring Weeks on Rügen is worthwhile. It is considered a delicacy, skillfully presented by inventive chefs. Carnivores will enjoy the game season: then deer, hare, roe deer, and wild boar from the coastal forests are on the menu. If you want to cook in your private holiday apartment in Barth, the numerous weekly markets and farm shops offer fresh and regional products.

What is a must-see in Barth?

The Legendary Vineta City with a Vibrant Cultural Scene

Visit the Vineta Museum in Barth and learn about the legendary medieval city of Jumne or Jumneta, which is said to have been submerged as divine punishment during a storm surge. The museum is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and on weekends from 11 AM to 5 PM. (As of November 2023) The medieval St. Jürgen Hospital Complex from the 14th century houses the Low German Bible Center. It displays, among other things, the Barther Bible printed in 1588. Lovers of sacred music should attend the organ concerts at St. Mary's Church on the Buchholz organ. Performing arts can be seen at the Barther Bodden Stage and in the Cultural House "House of the Working People": theater performances, film screenings, concerts, as well as exhibitions and readings.
