Great relaxing holiday

We felt very comfortable during the week. Everything you need for a vacation is there. Top clean. Very nice landlord. Very quiet location, but not far to go shopping by car. We can absolutely recommend the house.

Relaxing holiday

We had a lovely beach holiday and hardly ever used the car because of the good location. The town centre, bathing area, shopping facilities, everything is within easy walking distance. The house with the flat is located in a quiet little cul-de-sac on a beautifully landscaped property. The landlords are very nice and helpful and speak good German and English.
We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

Relaxing vacation

In August 2016, we were guests at Vesna and Nino's place. The apartment Palme is a beautiful, clean, and practical accommodation. The apartment is located in a quiet area, away from car noise. It's just a few minutes' walk to the beach and to Rovinj. Vesna and Nino are nice and helpful hosts. We would love to come back to you in 2017.

The historical center of Rovinj is a true gem on the coast of Istria. Start by strolling to the Port of Rovinj. Colorful fishing boats bob alongside white sailing yachts, just waiting to be admired by you. Head up the hill to the Church of St. Euphemia, the most significant sight in the city – not least because of its bell tower, which was modeled after the Campanile in St. Mark's Square in Venice. From its peak, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the houses of Rovinj, the harbor, and the sea. Below the hill, you'll find the red clock tower on a square. Its facade is adorned with the winged lion of Venice. Directly opposite, there's a small fountain where you can take a short break. Alternatively, continue strolling through the alleys of Rovinj and discover small restaurants, shops, and souvenir stores.

The little paradise out on the sea

In front of the small fishing village of Fažana lies the Brioni island group. The group consists of 14 small and tiny islands and is now a national park, which is one of the region's tourist highlights. On the islands, you'll find the remains of old villas, Illyrian houses, Byzantine fortresses, and an early Christian basilica that you should definitely visit. A safari park attracts visitors with animals and plants from all over the world. Here, you'll find elephants, antelopes, llamas, and zebras, among others. Mouflons, deer, roe deer, and peacocks live freely on Brioni.

What can you experience in Rovinj with children?

Rovinj for the whole family

The best time to travel for family vacations is from early summer to autumn. Then, boat trips, horseback riding, and relaxing days at the beach are on the agenda. Boat trips on the typical Croatian Batanas are particularly popular with vacationers. Whether it's fishing trips or leisurely rides to the small islands of the region, there's something for everyone! If you want to explore the area alone, canoe trips are also recommended. You can often rent boats on the beach and explore the coastal region for a few hours. Another excursion destination for both young and old guests is the Aquacolors Water Park in Poreč. The park is only 35 kilometers from Rovinj and features 12 water slides, various pools, and a bar in the water. The park is open daily from June to September between 10 am and 6 pm. (As of September 2023) For even more adrenaline, try the Zip Line in Pazin. Here, you can slide on a wire rope over the Pazin Gorge and through a cave. An unforgettable experience!

Where can I eat out in Rovinj?

On the Adriatic coast, fish naturally tops the menus of restaurants: sole and bream, octopus, scampi, and mussels. The hosts present you with the catch of the day and weigh the respective fish. Payment is based on the daily price. Try the local dishes such as Pršut (air-dried ham), Maneštra (a vegetable stew with meat), or the Venetian-influenced risottos (for example, black risotto with octopus). Also, enjoy the robust local wines that carry the Mediterranean sun within them: spicy, full-bodied, and fruity. In the winding center of the city, you'll find the Balbi Arch from 1680, which spans one of the narrow streets. This used to be one of the city gates. You can also discover preserved parts of the city walls in the north and south of the city. The small local museum revolves around the history and stories of Rovinj. The museum displays artifacts and art objects from several centuries. Additionally, you can admire boats and fishing items from the Rovinj area at the Batana Eco-museum. Adults pay an entrance fee of 25 Kunas, which is about €3.30. (As of September 2023)
