A nice relaxing vacation in Istria

We spent 12 nights in the very well-maintained house of Dragica and her husband. The house is even more beautiful than in the pictures. The landlords are both very nice, helpful, and so hospitable. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with chilled drinks. Additionally, there was a fruit basket and wine. Throughout the week, there were other thoughtful gestures. The pool is great with salt treatment and Dragica's husband maintains it unobtrusively several times early in the morning. You still sleep there and don't notice anything. The hosts do not live close to the house. You are otherwise on your own at the edge of the small village of Rakalj. The house is free-standing. The neighbors are a few meters away and hardly visible. Despite the village road that runs by, it is very quiet. Dragica is reachable by phone at any time. For excursions, you need a car. One can also easily reach 2 beaches (small coves) within 2 to 3 km distance with e-bikes. In the village, there is a supermarket and a konoba, probably soon also a pizzeria. Beautiful holiday home

The holiday home is beautifully and quietly situated. It is equipped with everything that makes a holiday pleasant. It is extremely clean and lovingly furnished.
The outdoor area also invites you to relax. The pool is also very clean and well maintained.
The communication was excellent via e-mail/SMS and we were always answered very quickly. In short, we felt very comfortable.
The only drawback was the shopping. The supermarket in the village has all the essentials, but for bulk shopping we went to a larger supermarket in Pula.

A dream!

The house is a dream, far away from mass tourism. We have discovered several beautiful lonely beaches nearby. A small shop with everything you need is within walking distance. The view next to the chapel Sv. Agneza is something special. Rakalj is the right place if you prefer rural tranquility. Tourist hustle and bustle is about 30 minutes away by car.

In 1797, Napoleon brought about the decline of the Republic of St. Mark. In the centuries before, the Venetians shaped the entire Adriatic region. The winged lion of St. Mark can be found across Istria, for example, above house entrances. The Old Rakalj (Stari Rakalj) is a ruin situated on a hill above the beach, offering fantastic panoramic views of the Adriatic and the hinterland. In recent years, more and more remains of Old Rakalj have been excavated. In the town center, there is a 16th-century noble palace which houses the municipal magistrate. Rakalj was long famous for its pottery. An ethnographic collection in the birthplace of writer Mijo Mirković houses an exhibition on the cultural history of the town. Pula's history dates back to antiquity, and a visit is worth it, especially to see the Amphitheater, which used to hold more than 20,000 spectators.
