Dreamy finca but too cold for March.

I was already in the Finca in 2021 and just had to go back because we were so impressed last time. The house and communication with Mrs. Sager, as well as the crew on site, were worth 5 stars again. Super nice and helpful.

Unfortunately, we were there last time in September and it was super hot.
Now in March, it was unfortunately already very cold in the house. Although we had a portable heater and a fireplace in the house, we unfortunately couldn't get it really warm and always had to dress very warmly. Unfortunately, the beds and towels were also quite damp and never really dry. Nevertheless, it was a nice week. But I would not recommend the Finca for the "cold" months, but rather for the summer months.

Great villa

We spent 14 wonderful days at the Finca Na Barca! It felt like home and not like one of the charmless holiday homes on the island.
We lacked nothing! The Finca was clean and tidy. The local crew does a great job. They immediately took care of small things, and Mrs. Sager also takes care of everything and is always available.
The pool and the garden are the absolute highlights of the Finca. The large fig and lemon tree in the garden offer many delicacies to improve breakfast ?
Grilling on the terrace was always a great option for us and a must in this garden.
Of course, there were many mosquitoes in the evening/night, but overall everything was great with mosquito nets (windows, doors, and all beds), so we hardly had any problems while sleeping.
From the Finca, you can walk into town. Especially the weekly market is worth seeing, but there are also many great restaurants nearby.
The Finca is an absolute recommendation. We will definitely come back!

Great finca

We have already visited many fincas on Mallorca, this finca was particularly beautiful. The location and facilities are great. The property is within walking distance of Santanyi and is very quiet and secluded.

How is the weather in Santanyi?

Mild winters and hot summers. That's the short formula for the climate in Mallorca. The best time for you to travel for a vacation in an affordable holiday apartment or a privately owned holiday home in one of Mallorca's most beautiful regions, Santanyí, is entirely up to your personal preferences. Let's start with summer: In July and August, temperatures often rise above 30° C. The sea is wonderfully warm for swimming, the private pool sometimes offers almost no cooling anymore, and long hikes should be avoided due to the strong heat. The autumn, winter, and spring months are suitable for outdoor activities, with daytime temperatures between 20° and 25° C in the transitional period and 10° to 15° C in winter. Most of the rain falls in autumn and spring. However, the southeast coast of the island around Santanyí and Cala Santanyí has been favored by the sun god: It is the place with the most sunshine hours here.

Tracing the past

Enjoy the atmosphere of Santanyí in the shady alleys of the old town. On Plaça Mayor, you can start your day with a café con leche, a milk coffee. Right next door is the 18th-century Sant Andreu Church. The special feature of the church is the baroque organ. It comes from a Dominican monastery near Palma. The royal organ builder Jordi Bosch, who also built the organs in the cathedrals of Seville and Murcia, created this impressive instrument, on which organ concerts are regularly held. Even older is the Capella del Roser. The Rosary Chapel with its Gothic ribbed vault dates back to the 14th century. It is located in the same building complex. At the city exit towards Palma, there is a tower built around 1500. The sa Porta Murada is a remnant of the former city wall of Santanyí. The parish church of the town is also definitely worth a visit. Many attractions are not too far from your holiday accommodation.

The Spanish art highlights nearby

Rent a holiday apartment or a private residence in Santanyí or Cala Santanyí, and you are just half an hour away from the metropolis. Lovers of modern and surrealism make pilgrimages to Finca Son Boter. In this house, the Spanish artist Joan Miró lived and worked. Today, it houses the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca. Miró had the idea during his lifetime that the construction boom here could one day destroy this place and turned it into a foundation back then. The building and the studio with numerous paintings and sculptures by Miró are open for viewing.

Another highlight and "bastion" of modern art is the Es Baluard Museum. It is located in a former fortification building within the old city wall on Passeig Marítim (hence the name Bastion, Es Baluard). The house offers exhibitions of contemporary artists. But the building itself also has its architectural charms. The terrace in a prime location on the edge of the old town allows a view over to the cathedral and across the bay from Palma.

Spain's cuisine is known for tapas and paella. Of course, you can also find both in Mallorca. However, Spain's cuisine has its origins on the mainland, and the island has its own unique delicacies. The specialties in brief: rabbit, snails, Azzòz Brut, and the secret ingredient fonoll marí. But let's start with rabbit. Especially in the cooler months, you should ask in rural restaurants for oven dishes with rabbit. Or, if it has to be a kind of paella: Arròs amb conill. As an appetizer, snails in a dark garlic broth are suitable. Staying with rice: Arròz brut, dirty rice, is a dish from the simple peasant cuisine with leftovers from pork, chicken, or rabbit. And here comes the secret ingredient, sea fennel or fonoll marí. It grows on the salty soils directly on the coast around Cala Santanyí and is pickled sour. If you like to cook in your own holiday apartment in the city center or in a holiday home, for example in Cala Llombards, the weekly market in Santanyí is highly recommended. It takes place every Wednesday and Saturday on Plaça Major. Get tips from the locals and digest afterwards with a walk through the town and admire the beautiful fincas.

It's a tough choice – whether to opt for a townhouse (a Casa) in the heart of Santanyí or a finca in the countryside. A Spanish villa with a private swimming pool and large garden offers space for the whole family, including your pet. Many landlords have pets themselves. Choosing where to go to the beach daily is equally challenging. Near your affordable holiday house or apartment in Santanyí, for example in Cala Llombards, there are several beaches that are among the most beautiful on the island – and they are particularly family-friendly. In the neighboring coves Cala Llombards and Caló des Macs with small sandy beaches, there is a natural rock arch. The beach of Cala Santanyí, practically the home bay of Santanyí, also offers protected fun in the water. The beach slopes gently into the sea. One of the most natural beaches in the municipality of Santanyí is S’Amarador in Cala Mondrago. It is located next to the nature reserve of the same name. The Parc natural de Mondragó (Castilian: Parque natural de Mondragó, "Nature Park of Mondragó") is a nature reserve in the southeast of the Spanish Balearic island, in the Migjorn region. Two streams, which rarely carry water, flow onto the beach. There is no development, just a small wooden bar with umbrellas and loungers – this is what the perfect beach holiday looks like. Another picturesque cove in the area is Cala S'Almonia. However, it offers no beach. Then the children can jump into the pool at the accommodation once more.

White gold and golden coves

Ses Salines stands for white gold. This refers to the whitest sand (if there is even a superlative of white) at Es Trenc beach and the salt from the salt pans of Ses Salines. Salt has been harvested in the eponymous municipality since the end of the 19th century. Through the evaporation of seawater in large shallow basins, the salt remains. The particularly fine salt from the surface is known as Flor de Sal, or salt flower.

The neighboring towns of Santanyí Cala Figuera and Cala d'Or are particularly suitable for small city strolls. Cala Figuera is a deeply indented bay. In restaurants on the steep slope of the town, you sit with a sea view above the harbor and watch the colorful hustle and bustle and the boats coming and going. Cala d'Or, the golden cove, is located a bit further northeast and is also a deeply indented bay. Here too, you can wonderfully walk along the coast, stroll along the promenade, and lose track of time in one of the numerous restaurants and cafes. There is endlessly much to experience and do in the most beautiful region of Mallorca, Santanyí.
