We spent a very nice and relaxing vacation here in July / August 2026.
The holiday apartment is large, spacious, clean, and equipped with everything one could wish for:
Starting from the kitchen with all imaginable kitchen appliances like a large (!) refrigerator, an additional freezer, a fully automatic coffee machine with beans, a kettle, a microwave, a sparkling water maker, . . . and plenty of dishes for every occasion. Additionally, all the basics for cooking such as vinegar and oil, flour, sugar, and salt were available. In the bathroom, there is a hairdryer, sufficient towels, and a washing machine (detergent and fabric softener are also provided). Forgot shower gel, shampoo, or toothpaste? No problem - there was a bit of everything.
We found it very pleasant that, in addition to the bathroom with sink, toilet, and large shower, there is also another toilet available. Several windows are fitted with fly screens, allowing for ventilation at any time - this was particularly pleasant during the hot season with the somewhat cooler nights!
In the garden opposite, there is a garden shed with comfortable loungers and cushions, making it a nice place to relax with a book. If the reading material runs out, there is a bookshelf on-site with more supplies.
Everything was as promised in the advertisement. What I would like to mention: The district of Ried is reached via a narrow, winding road that goes unusually steeply up for us "flatland Tyroleans." This was initially a bit of an adjustment, but after a few days it was manageable. For that, you were always rewarded with a great view from the numerous benches! Black Forest vacation insiders surely know this. Brigitte and Volker were super nice, always helpful, and always open for a chat. Especially beautiful were the shared evening with sausage salad and wine tasting as well as our evening at "Schopfheim dances."
In short: This vacation was great!!!

We spent a wonderful holiday week in Mrs. Braun's holiday home "Haus Wally." We rented the entire property – including the holiday apartment – for our family and our dogs. The hostess was very friendly, and the house was impeccably clean and excellently equipped. We were personally welcomed by the hostess; there were fresh flowers in the house, and some delicious treats had been prepared for us. We especially enjoyed the spacious, quiet garden. It is completely fenced, which was ideal for our dogs.
The house is located in a quiet village that has a small but fine shop with regional products.
The location proved to be an excellent starting point for various hikes through nearby gorges. We could even start the hike to the Rötenbach Gorge directly from the house. Other hiking destinations – such as the Gauchach Gorge (highly recommended), the Wutach Gorge, or the Ravenna Gorge (which is somewhat more touristy) – were quickly and easily accessible by car. The trip to the Triberg Waterfalls required the longest drive; an entrance fee was charged, and although we found the waterfalls beautiful, the area was very crowded with tourists.
