Dream vacation in a sea dream

A very well-maintained and excellently equipped house. It is evident with this property that the owners take care of it themselves and ensure with clear rules that the property will hopefully stay in top condition for a long time. Everything is sufficiently available, glasses for different drinks, reasonable kitchen utensils for everything. In addition, optimal equipment for the terrace, a lockable garden shed with plenty of space for bicycles. The house is a dream and the location is wonderful. The sunset is unbeatable. Thank you very much for letting us spend our holidays here.

The facilities leave nothing to be desired: large kitchen area invites you to cook together, living area for cozy evenings in front of the fireplace, bedrooms with very comfortable beds, sauna for relaxing after extensive walks on the beach, ample storage space, utility room with washing machine and drying facilities.
The quiet location is also a plus point, you can quickly reach the island's sights by car.
Communication with the Schmidt family was always exemplary. The four of us had an unforgettable week. Thank you very much!

How is the weather in Dranske?

Surrounded by the sea and swept by winds, the island in the Baltic Sea has a balanced climate with quite a few sunny days. For instance, the island recorded 2000 sunshine hours in the year 1995. Depending on the region, Rügen has relatively low rainfall, which is evenly distributed throughout the year. Dranske in the northwest of Rügen, due to its special location, has a typical stimulating climate, which is considered particularly healthy. Relatively warm, stable summers, cold winters, and the iodine-enriched sea breeze create a climate that is particularly beneficial for allergy sufferers and people with weakened immune systems. May to September are the best months for a holiday. Also, the water in the protected Bodden is significantly warmer than on the north side of the island.

Dranske and its traces of the past

Those who book an affordable holiday apartment privately or a holiday home with a view of the water in Dranske will be delighted by the picturesque location between the Wieker Bodden and the Baltic Sea. Like all its neighboring towns, Dranske is an old Slavic settlement founded by Prince Wizlaw II at the end of the 14th century. The slightly Germanized place name derives from the Slavic "Dranzky" or "Dornik," meaning "stick" or "roof batten." Those interested in the history of the place and the Bug peninsula should definitely visit the Marine Historical and Local Museum Dranske/Bug.

Although the place is a former fishing village, it looks back on a 75-year military history. Since the naval base was decommissioned in 1991, many unsightly buildings from that era have been demolished, so the town's appearance has become more original again. The Kuhle district at the northern tip of the Bodden has a very special attraction for you. There stands the old house "Der Schifferkrug," the oldest existing inn on Rügen! Its existence has been documented since 1455 and is definitely worth a visit.

In the Lancken district, an interesting art and cultural historical attraction awaits you, which you should definitely visit. It is the early Baroque manor house "Gutshaus Lancken." It is located in the Baroque park laid out between 1720-1730 and was inhabited by the von der Lancken family from 1608 to 1878. Since 1963, the manor house has been vacant. The overgrown park and estate is a particularly romantic destination for a bicycle tour, where you will surely find a nice picnic spot.

What is a must-see in Dranske?

Quiet but not boring

Dranske and its surroundings guarantee you a relaxing holiday away from the noise of the city or the hustle and bustle of other tourist destinations.
