Anyone looking for tranquility and the most beautiful corner of Rügen is spot on here.

By chance, a few years ago we came to Dranske and the vineyard village.

My wife and I fell in love with this small place right away.
We then drove there every day for 30 minutes because we really liked the beach and the paths through the dunes, as well as the almost deserted beach.

The place gives the impression of a small Viking village where the world is still in order.

I then took a photo of the contacts for a holiday home that we liked. Then before Christmas, I established a very nice contact with the family who owns the property, and they rented us the Wind apartment in the Elements house.

From the beginning to the end, super landlords who are very kind people.

We were even able to move into the apartment earlier because we have a very long journey.

A bouquet I ordered was lovingly placed with chocolates and a bottle of local liqueur.

We had wedding anniversary and birthday in the week? Regarding the apartment, it can be said that no wish remains unfulfilled. Great sauna, pure tranquility, view of the dunes and the sea, central and quiet location.

Super modern and everything up to the latest standards.

We were able to simply enjoy the week from the first to the last day.

The weather was excellent and the nature phenomenal. My wife found a petrified shell and many "Hühnergötter."

The apartment is also highly recommended for families with children. Dear Sandra and Matthias, we are coming back 100 percent.

You can be proud to have such a house and even share it with other people?

We are a group of 8 hobby photographers from all over Germany who have been meeting every winter (February/March) at the Baltic Sea since 1984. In the meantime, we have "captured" almost the entire eastern Baltic Sea coast, and Dranske on Rügen was one of the last corners we had not explored yet! The holiday home "Elements" fit perfectly with the 2 well-equipped and modern holiday apartments "Wind" and "Water" - plenty of space, enough sleeping and bathroom facilities, a perfect kitchen and sauna, as well as a fireplace, but also enough chairs for sunbathing in pleasantly 13 degrees at the beginning of March! Uncomplicated, or rather: warm handling of the formalities with rental etc. We will definitely be happy to return when it fits!

Like all its neighboring towns, Dranske is an old Slavic settlement founded by Prince Wizlaw II at the end of the 14th century. The slightly Germanized place name derives from the Slavic "Dranzky" or "Dornik," meaning "stick" or "roof batten." Those interested in the history of the place and the Bug peninsula should definitely visit the Marine Historical and Local Museum Dranske/Bug. Although the place is a former fishing village, it looks back on a 75-year military history. Since the naval base was decommissioned in 1991, many unsightly buildings from that era have been demolished, so the town's appearance has become more original again. The Kuhle district at the northern tip of the Bodden has a very special attraction for you. There stands the old house "Der Schifferkrug," the oldest existing inn on Rügen! Its existence has been documented since 1455 and is definitely worth a visit. In the Lancken district, an interesting art and cultural historical attraction awaits you, which you should definitely visit. It is the early Baroque manor house "Gutshaus Lancken." It is located in the Baroque park laid out between 1720-1730 and was inhabited by the von der Lancken family from 1608 to 1878. Since 1963, the manor house has been vacant. The overgrown park and estate is a particularly romantic destination for a bicycle tour, where you will surely find a nice picnic spot.

What do you need to experience in Dranske?

The north of Rügen

Do not miss the legendary Cape Arkona in the north of the Wittow Peninsula. At Cape Arkona, you will find, among other things, Jaromarsburg, a Slavic settlement from the 7th century, which was destroyed by the Danes in the 12th century. Other attractions at Cape Arkona include the Peilturm, two lighthouses from the 19th and 20th centuries, and the fog station. For many visitors, however, the cliffs of the cape with their chalk cliffs are the most famous attraction of the region – if not of all Rügen. The chalk cliffs are a beautiful destination with panoramic views of the sea, accessible via hiking trails. The nearby fishing village of Vitt is one of the most beautiful places on Rügen and delights with its old, thatched-roof houses and their old charm. Those interested in art history should visit Altenkirchen with the church built around 1200. The megalithic tombs in Nobbin wonderfully complement your excursion into the Slavic history of the peninsula. If you want to take an unforgettable boat trip, you should definitely head to the island of Hiddensee, just a stone's throw from your holiday apartment or house in Dranske.

How do I come to Dranske?

By car, you can reach Dranske on Rügen from Berlin via the A 24 motorway. You initially head towards Hamburg and from the Wittstock/Dosse motorway junction, take the A 19 to Rostock. Here, switch to the A 20 towards Stralsund. From the Stralsund exit, continue on the B 96 federal road towards Sassnitz. Turn left at Sagard towards Altenkirchen and then follow the signs to Dranske. If traveling via Hamburg, take the A 1 motorway to Lübeck until the exit to Stettin on the A 20. Follow the motorway to the Stralsund exit, where you switch to the B 96 towards Sassnitz. Continue as described above. The Deutsche Bundesbahn takes you to Bergen, Lietzow, Sagard, and Sassnitz on Rügen. From there, you need to switch to RPNV buses, which will take you on lines 12 and 13 to your destination. A beautiful alternative is the ferry connections to Rügen. Scandlines and the ports in Sassnitz and Rostock offer ferries that connect Rügen with Scandinavian, Polish, and Russian ports. Dranske has a ferry connection to Hiddensee and Wiek on the Wittow peninsula.
