Comfortable holiday flat with a view over the harbour, within walking distance of the old town and various restaurants. Large living room with kitchen, everything exactly as described in the text. Huge shower in the spacious bathroom. Great ! However, we (65+) had problems to get out of the extremely low beds of 30 cm height. Looks good, but not comfortable.

Where Music Meets the Sea

Wismar is the city of music by the sea. Throughout the year, concerts are offered. World-class performances occur when the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and the NDR Choir play annually in Wismar. Sound and space come together magnificently in the Brick Gothic St. George's Church, where the coveted performances take place.

Equally prestigious are the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival with orchestra concerts by renowned performers. The Holy Spirit Church provides a fitting backdrop.

If you're more interested in theater and visual arts, Wismar offers summer festivals with corresponding performances. This includes the Sweden Festival, which delights with parades and live shows, as well as the International Hansa Day.

The nearby surroundings of Wismar are also worth a trip. This includes the village of Mecklenburg, where the Slavic Nakon's Castle and the old Windmill await you.

Those who love castles must visit Klütz to see the Baroque Bothmer Castle and its landscape park. The entrance fee is €6, and the castle park is open daily from 9 AM. The castle, however, has separate opening hours. (As of August 2023)

For many, a highlight is the ride on the old Mecklenburg Resort Railway "Molli", which takes you by steam from Bad Doberan to the historic seaside resort of Heiligendamm.
