Description
The holiday flat is located in the historic Old Harbour of the Hanseatic city of Wismar, directly on the quay of the harbour basin.
The living room with its generous window front offers a panoramic view of the listed Thormann warehouse built in 1862, of the so-called tree house, which owes its name to the fact that the harbour entrance used to be closed off at night for safety reasons with the help of a long tree trunk laid crosswise, and of the water gate, the last remaining town gate in Wismar.
Behind the water gate, the view falls on the medieval old town with the Nikolaikirche (St. Nicholas' Church), whose nave is one of the highest in Germany and has been included in the UNECO World Heritage List.
The Poeler Kogge, a replica of the Poel wreck based on shipbuilding methods of the 14th century, has its mooring in the immediate vicinity of your flat.
The modern flat with maritime ambience is approx. 70 square metres in size and has two separate bedrooms for two people each, a tasteful bathroom and a spacious, light-flooded living room with a balcony facing the Old Harbour. The kitchen is equipped with a stove/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave.
Furthermore, the flat offers a washing machine, a dryer and a storage space for bicycles. Parking spaces for your car are also available.
Along the harbour promenade, you can reach the Hanseatic old town on foot in just a few minutes.
The island of Poel off the coast of Wismar invites you to swim, go on long beach walks or go cycling. The Wonnemar leisure pool in the Hanseatic city of Wismar with its extensive bathing and sauna facilities offers relaxation at the highest level.

Location and surroundings of object
Holiday flat in the historic old harbour of the Hanseatic city of Wismar, directly on the quay of the harbour basin. Within walking distance of the beautifully restored Old Town included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. As a World Heritage Site, the historic old town of Wismar has been under the special protection of UNESCO since May 2002.
Wismar became a member of the Hanseatic League just a few years after the town was founded in 1226. In 1259, the Wendish Quarter of the Hanseatic League was founded in Wismar to protect against increasing piracy.
in 1648 Wismar, together with the island of Poel, fell to the Swedish crown. Swedish rule over Wismar ended de facto in 1803.
To this day, the people of Wismar celebrate the Swedish Festival every year in late summer.
The most important sights include the market square (one of the largest in northern Germany) with the classicist town hall, the Renaissance-style Wismar Wasserkunst, the famous Old Swede town house and the brick Renaissance Fürstenhof, richly decorated with terracottas.
In the vicinity of the market, the numerous excellently renovated streets with medieval to classicist gabled houses invite you to take a stroll.
The medieval witnesses of the historic Old Harbour are the water gate and the replica of the Poeler Kogge, whose home port is Wismar's Old Harbour. The tree house with two replicas of the Swedish heads, Wismar's landmark, is also located there.
The filming of the silent movie classic Nosferatu took place in Wismar in 1921. A shot from the tower of St. Mary's Church over Wismar's market square with the Wasserkunst served as the establishing shot for the Wisborg location. Other filming locations were the Water Gate, the courtyard of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Old Harbour.

Super location with a view over the harbour
Comfortable holiday flat with a view over the harbour, within walking distance of the old town and various restaurants. Large living room with kitchen, everything exactly as described in the text. Huge shower in the spacious bathroom. Great ! However, we (65+) had problems to get out of the extremely low beds of 30 cm height. Looks good, but not comfortable.
