Great little house with a big garden

We spent a week with two couples and two dogs in the holiday home and felt completely comfortable. We lacked nothing!

Especially great was the large, fully fenced garden with terrace – really ideal with two dogs. This way, the dogs could run freely outside and we could spend relaxed time on the terrace.

The beach is about a 40-minute walk away. The path there is perfect for a nice walk with the dog. Those who do not want to walk can reach the beach by car in a few minutes.

The location is also great for bike tours. At the end of September, it was pleasantly quiet and not overcrowded.

The kitchen was very well equipped, and there were even a few games, so cozy evenings at home were also taken care of.

Overall, everything we needed for a relaxing week was really there. A small note for future guests: Towels and soap are not available in the holiday home and should be brought along. However, towels can also be obtained at the reception if needed, with costs amounting to €9 for a shower towel and a hand towel.

We would definitely come back and can especially recommend the holiday home for a vacation with a dog!

Beautiful vacation

Hello.

In August 2026, we were guests at the beautiful Seepferdchen for 2 weeks and felt very comfortable.
Located in the midst of a small beautiful park with a secluded garden, everything was available that made our stay on Texel enjoyable.
From toys for our son to bicycles to a basket for our dog, everything was simply there.
Ms. Kühn really thought of everything and created a little holiday paradise at Seepferdchen. Our contact with Ms. Kühn was very nice, and she gave us many tips for our stay on the island.
We already knew some things from vacations on Texel, but much we did not know, which we could joyfully explore.
As a family with a child and a dog, we enjoyed the time very much and have already booked our next
vacation at the Seepferdchen.

The booking went smoothly. Mr. Reetz always responded quickly and is very friendly. The equipment of the house is top-notch, nothing is missing. We found everything as it was described. Bathroom on the ground floor new. We felt very comfortable. Of course, we booked again for next time. The holiday park was clean, great swimming pool, all staff friendly. We would 100% recommend the holiday home.

Which sights are there in Texel?

From De Cocksdorp to Oudeschild - discover the sights

In De Koog, De Cocksdorp, and the seaside resort of De Koog, you will find two architectural peculiarities. The typical house, also known as a Gulf house, resembles a pyramid! The roof slopes on all sides, preventing strong winds from exerting too much pressure. Texel sheep find shelter from harsh weather in the lee of the famous sheep barns, which face northeast – against the main wind direction. Some sheep barns are protected as historical monuments. Texel also has its own breed of sheep, the Texel sheep or Texelaar. For nature lovers, the popular Ecomare museum in De Koog is worth a visit, focusing on life on an island and the sea. It houses a bird and seal rescue center. In the "Water Hall," you can see North Sea inhabitants in mostly open aquariums, including touching small dogfish and watching seals underwater. The exhibition "Life on an Island" showcases the expansion of Texel over the last 10,000 years to today and projected into the future. Bones of mammals from the Ice Age, a porpoise, and native birds are also on display. The second exciting museum on the island is Kaap Skil, a maritime and beachcomber museum in Oudeschild. The museum also includes a windmill. The Texel Lighthouse, Eierland Lighthouse, is the only lighthouse in the Netherlands that looks out to the sea on three sides.

What do you need to experience in Texel?

Enjoy a holiday in the National Park right on the Wadden Sea in North Holland

The unique National Park Duinen van Texel in North Holland stretches for 22 kilometers along the entire west coast of Texel. The highest dunes reach a height of almost 25 meters. Nowhere else in the Netherlands is there such a compact variety of landscapes. Popular attractions include the wet dune valleys, pine and deciduous forests, salt marshes, and heathlands. Here, you can encounter many rare plants and protected bird species up close. Book accommodation for you and your family now and experience an unforgettable holiday full of activities in idyllic landscapes, hikes on varied trails, and attractions in the province of North Holland.

What can you experience in Texel with children?

Perfect holidays for the whole family in the province

The beautiful North Sea island Texel is particularly family-friendly, as families with children can fully enjoy their vacation here. Relax on the beach or collect oysters - they can frolic in nature and on the beach to their heart's content. Want to spend active days with your kids? Be sure to visit the climbing park in De Cocksdorp. Or how about a ride on a shrimp boat! Texel even has two go-kart tracks. On the outdoor go-kart track in Den Burg, you can really get going at 70 km/h on a 500 m track. During the summer season, there is also a separate children's area with a go-kart track for children aged 8-12. Rainy weather? Leave your cozy holiday home with the aim of discovering the racer in you at Indoorkarting De Koog. Texel is also ideal for a holiday with a dog, as your beloved pet can simply come along! In many accommodations, whether it's an affordable holiday home, a privately-owned bungalow, or an apartment with a balcony and fireplace, pets are allowed, as are most restaurants and beach pavilions. On many beaches, your dog can run around off-leash. However, there is a leash requirement on the supervised beach sections near Den Hoorn and De Cocksdorp. In the forest areas "Dennenbos" and "Krimbos," your dog can also run free. The Hoge Berg is the oldest part of Texel and dates back to prehistoric times. The Polder Waalburg is one of the oldest nature reserves of Natuurmonumenten. Perfect for hiking and walks in breathtaking landscapes!

Where can I eat out in Texel?

Everything the North Sea and the Wadden Sea have to offer

Texel products (Echt Texels Produkts) are famous: you must try the Texel sheep cheese from the Wezenspyk farm in Den Burg, which has been produced here for over 30 years. In the Brasserie De Lindeboom, you can also try various Texel products. The restaurant Het Schoutenhuis is dedicated to "Texel Tapas," called "Gerechies." If you rent a holiday home or an affordable apartment, it's to be independent, especially when it comes to food: get freshly smoked fish from the Vispalais smokehouse in Oudeschild and enjoy it privately in your holiday home or apartment. Smoking is done daily using a traditional method. Texel has two local chocolate businesses: "Chocolaterie Smidt" and "De Texelse Chocolaterie" (both in Den Burg) with handmade chocolates. Also, visit the "ice cream farmer" Labora in De Cocksdorp. The farm produces ice cream without preservatives or colorants. There are also local breweries here. For over 15 years, the beer has been brewed with ingredients from the island. Two bicycle routes lead from De Koog to the businesses of Echt Texels Produkt. With the variety of delicious and interesting stops, it's worth taking even the shorter tour in several day stages, and don't forget to pick up some treats to enjoy in your wonderful holiday home or apartment.

How do I come to Texel?

Your holiday begins on the ferry, not just at the holiday home

Ferries operate daily, 365 days a year, hourly to and from Den Helder, North Holland in the Netherlands. The crossing to Texel to your wonderful holiday home takes just 20 minutes. You can reach Den Helder via the A7 motorway or the N9 expressway. If you are traveling by car from the northeast of the Netherlands, you will drive over the Afsluitdijk. From Amsterdam, follow the A7. The route to the ferry terminal is well signposted. Den Helder is also easily accessible by train from Nijmegen, Utrecht, and Amsterdam. There are good bus connections that comfortably take you to the ferry terminal or to your holiday home or apartment. If you arrive at Den Helder station by train, you can take bus line 33 to reach the ferry terminal. Once you arrive in Texel, the VVV Texel line bus 28 will take you to Den Burg or De Koog to your apartment or holiday home, and all other places can be reached with the Texelhopper buses. Rent a cozy apartment with a fireplace and balcony now and explore idyllic landscapes with mountains and fields on hiking trails in this popular region during a holiday with your family. Numerous activities in surrounding villages, cozy beach pavilions, or attractions such as lighthouses or places in North Holland are also popular with vacationers.
