Fantastic holiday home

We were on Texel for the first time with our dogs and are totally thrilled with the island and also with the holiday home. The Dolfijn is a fantastic bungalow. Modern, well thought out, and furnished with loving details. There are really no wishes left unfulfilled! We were also very pleased with the nice greeting at the table in the hallway and the fresh flower bouquets in the living room. We will definitely come back. Recommended house

We were again in this house for 2 weeks this year. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired. Rarely have we rented such a well-equipped house. Everything is available. The beds are top-notch. The garden is well-fenced, and the dog can roam without supervision. In a few minutes, you are in the forest, and it takes a quarter of an hour to get to the beach. We felt very comfortable again and were well taken care of by the landlord.

We are already here for the second time in this beautiful bungalow and feel very comfortable. The bungalow is quietly located and you can quickly get to the center of Koog. The landlords and the manager are also very nice, and we always like coming here. Moreover, the price-performance ratio is right. You also have your own parking space directly at the house and a beautiful garden.

In De Koog, De Cocksdorp, and the seaside resort of De Koog, you will find two architectural peculiarities. The typical house, also known as a Gulf house, resembles a pyramid! The roof slopes on all sides, preventing strong winds from exerting too much pressure. Texel sheep find shelter from harsh weather in the lee of the famous sheep barns, which face northeast – against the main wind direction. Some sheep barns are protected as historical monuments. Texel also has its own breed of sheep, the Texel sheep or Texelaar. For nature lovers, the popular Ecomare museum in De Koog is worth a visit, focusing on life on an island and the sea. It houses a bird and seal rescue center. In the "Water Hall," you can see North Sea inhabitants in mostly open aquariums, including touching small dogfish and watching seals underwater. The exhibition "Life on an Island" showcases the expansion of Texel over the last 10,000 years to today and projected into the future. Bones of mammals from the Ice Age, a porpoise, and native birds are also on display. The second exciting museum on the island is Kaap Skil, a maritime and beachcomber museum in Oudeschild. The museum also includes a windmill. The Texel Lighthouse, Eierland Lighthouse, is the only lighthouse in the Netherlands that looks out to the sea on three sides.

Texel products (Echt Texels Produkts) are famous: you must try the Texel sheep cheese from the Wezenspyk farm in Den Burg, which has been produced here for over 30 years. In the Brasserie De Lindeboom, you can also try various Texel products. The restaurant Het Schoutenhuis is dedicated to "Texel Tapas," called "Gerechies." If you rent a holiday home or an affordable apartment, it's to be independent, especially when it comes to food: get freshly smoked fish from the Vispalais smokehouse in Oudeschild and enjoy it privately in your holiday home or apartment. Smoking is done daily using a traditional method. Texel has two local chocolate businesses: "Chocolaterie Smidt" and "De Texelse Chocolaterie" (both in Den Burg) with handmade chocolates. How do I come to Texel?

Your holiday begins on the ferry, not just at the holiday home

Ferries operate daily, 365 days a year, hourly to and from Den Helder, North Holland in the Netherlands. The crossing to Texel to your wonderful holiday home takes just 20 minutes. You can reach Den Helder via the A7 motorway or the N9 expressway. If you are traveling by car from the northeast of the Netherlands, you will drive over the Afsluitdijk. From Amsterdam, follow the A7. The route to the ferry terminal is well signposted. Den Helder is also easily accessible by train from Nijmegen, Utrecht, and Amsterdam. There are good bus connections that comfortably take you to the ferry terminal or to your holiday home or apartment. If you arrive at Den Helder station by train, you can take bus line 33 to reach the ferry terminal. Once you arrive in Texel, the VVV Texel line bus 28 will take you to Den Burg or De Koog to your apartment or holiday home, and all other places can be reached with the Texelhopper buses.
