The main focus in Greetsiel immediately falls on the Twin Mills, which wonderfully complement the townscape. These well-preserved windmills now house a tea room and a small bakery. Nearby is also the Campen Lighthouse, often referred to as the little brother of the Parisian Eiffel Tower. The three-legged, red-and-white painted steel structure was completed in 1892 after four years of construction and, at 65 meters, is the tallest lighthouse in Germany. It can be climbed by visitors daily from 11 AM to 5 PM (as of August 2023). Those looking for North Sea charm will feel right at home in Greetsiel, especially at the Greetsiel Harbor. From here, you can take day trips to nearby islands or explore the nature reserve. Nature lovers can visit the National Park House Greetsiel. Here, you can book interesting tours through the Leyhörn nature reserve, to the salt marshes, for bird watching, or through the Wadden Sea.
A vacation home in Greetsiel is the perfect starting point for many beautiful day trips and excursions. At the Emden outer harbor and at the Knock pier, you can start your sea journey to Borkum or Helgoland. Especially in the summer season, the islands are a great excursion destination, with ferries departing almost hourly. For fans of the comedian Otto Waalkes, a visit to Dat Otto-Huus is worthwhile. The house is designed around the popular cult figure and amazes with great exhibits and valuable information. Occasionally, Otto himself also gives autograph sessions there. So keep your eyes and ears open.

Healthy enjoyment is offered by the Oasis in Greetsiel. In the swimming pool with bubble loungers, massage devices, steam bath, and sauna, you can relax at any time of the year. For children, a paddling pool and a play area are available. In Emden, 30 km away, the Adventure Land Oki Doki offers various sports activities. This indoor playground for children provides fun, sports, and adventure, a large pirate ship for climbing, a go-kart track, soccer and mini-golf fields, and a trampoline. You can visit it on weekdays from 2 PM to 7 PM and on weekends even from 10 AM. (As of August 2023)
Around Greetsiel Harbor and in the old town, there is a rich gastronomic offering. Fish dishes are particularly popular here. Those who want to try excellent seafood should visit Fischrestaurant de Beer, which is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. (As of August 2023) Perfect for a cozy afternoon or a great evening program is the Rescue Shed. Here, you can watch the bustling activity in the harbor and on the promenade while enjoying various tea and coffee specialties. For cold treats, you should visit the Ice Cream Café at the Harbor. It offers Danish ice cream specialties that you can enjoy directly during a walk by the sea. If you prefer to cook in your private vacation home in Greetsiel, you should shop at Biolandhof Agena in Schoonorth. Here, you will find regional fruits and vegetables as well as a selection of fresh end products that you should definitely try.
The Greetsiel Week is an art exhibition well-known beyond the borders of East Frisia. Over 40 renowned artists from the fields of painting, ceramics, goldsmithing, and sculpture present their artworks here. Among the architectural treasures of the place is the rectangular Brick Hall Church with Gothic pointed arch windows. The building is crowned by a weathervane in the shape of a three-masted ship with square sails, created around 1730, which clearly indicates the maritime connection of the place. Historically interesting is the Manningaburg in the neighboring village of Pewsum, a small water castle from the 15th century, which you can visit for just 2 € per person (as of August 2023). Inside, the building houses a small museum about the chieftain era, as well as models and remnants of the ornaments of the former castle complex in a beautiful garden.
