A place of relaxation brings

We are now here for the second time and will definitely come back.
Mr. Clever is always eager to respond quickly and was also very accommodating in phone contact to explain a few small things that have changed since the previous year.
Very fair landlord!
Mr. Clever Senior is a blessing for this vacation apartment. Always approachable and absolutely loving in dealing with our traveling child.
The apartment has everything you need. The rooftop terrace invites you to linger in the evening.
We would love to come back.

Perfect for family vacation

We had booked this house for a family vacation. 8 adults and three small children. The location is perfect, a very large property, cows on the left and sheep on the right. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the beach in Bensersiel, the path there goes over several parking lots that were hardly used, so it's very relaxed and safe. The terrace is very large and completely covered. The house is great, upstairs there are 2 separate living units, 4 bathrooms, a large storage room with a sink and an additional refrigerator. The kitchen is generously equipped with all appliances and dishes. The living room and dining room are also spacious, which we of course did not use in this weather.
We will definitely come back again. From us, a hundred percent recommendation.

Which sights are there in Esens?

Of Small and Great Wonders

Have you always dreamed of a house by the North Sea, where everything is available? Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen? Then go for it! Rent a beautiful vacation apartment with a bedroom including a bathroom, near the dike, or one of the apartments where everything is completely available that you need for a successful stay. It's easy and uncomplicated to vacation in a cozy vacation home. Sleep in longer, have a relaxed breakfast, and then head to the North Sea spa, dive into the warm water, and chat with the neighbors in the evening. Perfect. Before that, you could visit the Wattenhus Bensersiel. The quiet location of your vacation apartment makes it easy to decide to go to Esens. Here, through a bird listening station, you learn all about the birds living in the Wadden Sea and learn to distinguish the individual sounds. It's not easy to tell whether it's a storm gull or a herring gull, right? The video station vividly conveys how dangerous the North Sea can be when it comes to storm surges. Moreover, thanks to a cooperation with NABU, you learn all about the local flora and fauna. Less animalistic is the Lütetsburg Castle Park. The 30-hectare castle park is eight kilometers from the Wadden Sea and follows the traces of Theodor Fontane. If you come in May or June, you will experience a sea of blossoms from azaleas and rhododendrons. Not far from your vacation apartment is the picturesque fishing port of Greetsiel. The fishing port, more than 600 years old, is an idyllic home for 27 shrimp cutters. The Ems Barrier impresses with its huge embankment. Thanks to this structure, the completed cruise ships of the Meyer Shipyard reach the open North Sea. Moreover, the Ems Barrier fulfills an important function: it protects the dike from a storm surge.

What do you need to experience in Esens?

Watt!

The Lower Saxony Wadden Sea is the top excursion destination for every visitor spending their vacation in Esens or Bensersiel. Since 1986, the impressive Wadden Sea in Lower Saxony has been protected as a national park. Since 1993, the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea has been recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. So be mindful as you walk through this unique natural landscape. By bike, you can ideally reach the Wadden Sea and the center of Bensersiel. Feel welcome in this wonderful region and look forward to an unforgettable North Sea vacation. Thanks to the cozy apartments with bedroom, living room, and terrace, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing vacation in your own vacation apartment.

What can you experience in Esens with children?

Relaxation for the Whole Family

For families, Esens and Bensersiel offer a varied family-friendly vacation by the North Sea. Everyone has a bedroom as a retreat, sometimes even a private bathroom, and that even in the center of Bensersiel. Natural spectacles and playing in the Wadden Sea are unforgettable moments that await you and your family outside the vacation apartment. Between amusement park and Wadden Sea walk, just lie on the beach, defend the beach chair from curious glances, and let your gaze wander over the sea, has something. Don't miss discovering Esens and enjoy the independence in your vacation home, which you can rent cheaply from private owners. If it gets too hot, visit the seawater outdoor pool with the kids, if it gets too cold, the North Sea spa. The main thing is that everyone comes into contact with the fascinating element of water, without a storm surge.

Fancy Some Pinkel?

Don't worry, the names sound adventurous, but the East Frisians like it. While the shrimp describe small shrimp, you get this delicacy in Esens only under the name Granat, unpeeled from the shrimp cutter, freshly caught. Mussels and freshly caught fish are on almost every menu of the larger North Sea restaurants. Whether you're looking in Bensersiel or Esens for a tasty fish sandwich: Matjes herring is just as spicy as it is popular. The East Frisians love it sweet. Typical are the rice pudding with its red fruit sauce or the sea buckthorn cake. Accompanied by East Frisian tea, the national drink par excellence. Finally, there is a schnapps. If your vacation home or accommodation is not too far away, be sure to try Sienbohnsopp. Be careful, it's not a soup, but a brandy. Also very tasty is the Pharisäer, coffee with rum, or an Eiergrog, spiked with a shot of rum. You will definitely sleep soundly in your vacation apartment and wake up with the peaceful feeling of loving East Frisian cuisine. Then it's out to the beach, lying comfortably and dreaming of the culinary delights of the previous evening.

What is a must-see in Esens?

East Frisian Art at Its Finest

Visit the small galleries around Esens and Bensersiel, where regional artists capture the beauty of the North Sea in paintings and sculptures. Some artworks adorn one or another wall in your vacation apartment or your accommodation on the dike. The Bernstein Huus reveals everything about the gold of the coast, amber, with a small museum and shows how it is artfully polished. The life of the Jews in East Frisia is the focus of the Jewish Museum August-Gottschalk-Haus in Esens. During renovation work, the Mikveh, a ritual bath, was discovered. What would the North Sea be without its old mills? The "Life by the Sea" museum attracts you to the Peldemühle. In an authentic setting, you find touching works that put the natural beauty of this region in the spotlight. From the viewing platform of St. Magnus Church with tower museum, you have a breathtaking view of the coast, the islands, Esens, and Bedersiel. The ancestral hall in the town hall is a real eye-catcher, after all, the town hall in Esens dates from 1601/15, and it's even more beautiful that the ancestral hall is well preserved.

How do I come to Esens?

Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea

Even during the journey by car to Esens, you pass by old mills and unique natural spectacles. The small East Frisian town is known for the North Sea spa, Esens-Bensersiel. A vacation in Esens means slowing down. Enjoy the fresh air, make yourself comfortable in a beach chair, and look forward to the idyllic North Sea—with a cozy vacation apartment right by the sea or a small apartment in a central location. Perfect for your beach vacation. Bensersiel, for many the most beautiful North Sea spa in East Frisia, scores with relaxing moments. Discover the charm of the East Frisian Islands. On a lovely bike tour across East Frisia, you will get to know the hospitality of the local population and chat about the land and its people. You'll hear "Moin" in the morning and evening when you leave your vacation home. Whether you choose one of the apartments on the dike or a vacation home near the center of Esens: The selection is vast. Each accommodation, whether a house or apartment, is generously equipped and has one or more bathrooms and bedrooms, often also a terrace or Wi-Fi. Thus, in your accommodation like a house or a vacation apartment, you have the usual comfort as in your own home, to spend a relaxing stay on the North Sea coast. Many household items and bedding for the bedroom are already available. You arrive relaxed, without much effort when moving into the house.
