Large, cozy holiday home

We spent our vacation with the family (7 people) in Hooksiel and chose the holiday home "Pelle Ferienhaus" for the umpteenth time as our accommodation. The rooms are sufficiently spacious. The living, dining, and kitchen area is very well equipped with everything needed for a week. The town center is within walking distance, and shopping options are also easily accessible. We can recommend the holiday home for families.

Family weekend in a great accommodation

We had a great family weekend with 10 adults, 4 children, and a dog in the coastal pearl. This house has everything you need. Very nice contact with the landlord. Help was provided immediately for a small problem. Even people with disabilities can manage well on the ground floor. We would love to come back.

Which sights are there in Wangerland?

Attractions in Wangerland

Wangerland is one of the largest holiday regions on the Lower Saxony Baltic Sea. A vacation at the Wadden Sea is both relaxing and varied. Endless beaches, pristine landscapes, a wide range of activities, and endless beaches make the region so popular. Here, you can truly unwind and recharge for everyday life. Whether water skiing, surfing, sailing, or swimming, the coast is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. In Wangerland lies the romantic coastal resort of Minsen, characterized by a typical coastal stimulating climate, brick buildings, and cozy vacation apartments and homes. At the North Sea House Wangerland in Minsen, you gain insights into the landscape forms of mudflats, salt marshes, and sandbanks. In five aquariums, a lively underwater world thrives. A perfect beach vacation includes sun, sea, and sand. Thanks to the dreamy peninsula location on the North Sea coast in the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, the beaches are unique. Particularly popular are the cozy grass beach in Horumsiel and the beautiful sandy beach in Schillig. Here, you can feel the sand under your feet during a walk and spend a few undisturbed hours in the dunes. The diversity in this region is impressive. There is always something happening here, 365 days a year. A stay in Wangerland is excellent for exploring the numerous attractions. The community consists of 16 districts, and there are other places with a recognizable local structure. North of Hooksiel is Burg Fischhausen, which was once a water castle. The two-story building is nestled in a beautiful park. On the door of the tower, there is a Fischerhauser coat of arms with the year 1578. The castle was built by the builder Boing von Waddewarden. The small village of Ziallerns is one of the best-preserved mound settlements on the North German coast. The oldest settlement evidence dates back to around 100 BC. At that time, people settled directly on the marshland. In the information center, you get a good impression of the developmental history through drawings, historical photos, sketches, and maps. The recognized North Sea spa Horumersiel is a prime spot from which you have an excellent view of numerous sailboats, ocean giants, and fishing cutters.

The UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, with its 30 kilometers of dike line, is a breathtaking bathing paradise. Beautiful accommodations provide a perfect setting for the whole family. The "Lower Saxony Wadden Sea" National Park is the second largest national park in Germany and has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993. Witness the fascinating change of tides and watch millions of migratory birds resting and breeding. What can you experience in Wangerland with children?

Sun, Beach, Sea, and Play Paradises

Whether families with children or a vacation with a dog, in the wide range of beach-close accommodations, you will surely find a quiet apartment that meets your needs. For families with children, the flat land and the natural spectacle between low and high tide are excellently suited. The unique landscape invites you to extensive bike rides and hikes. For those sensitive to sand, the grass beach in Horumersiel is just right. While you relax in the beach chair, you can watch your children play. On cooler days, a visit to the Phämomania adventure exhibition is recommended. In the historic Carolinensiel train station, guests of all ages can go on a discovery tour across 1300m². 80 interactive stations offer insights into the natural laws that surround us daily. Experience in amazement how much fun physics can be. Touching is explicitly encouraged here. Here, you can lose your balance on solid ground, outrun your shadow, and feel the enormous forces acting on astronauts on their way to space. The Spielstadt Wangerland houses an indoor amusement park with over 20 attractions and children's rides. The Gruseleum is located in a former church in Hooksiel and is a dark experience world for children and adults. Explore the spooky corridors and be enchanted by fairy-tale constructions. Also very popular with children is the Werdum Pet Park. The park makes an important contribution to the conservation of old livestock breeds, such as Cameroon sheep, wool pigs, and Angora goats. Many of the animals can be fed and petted.

Where can I eat out in Wangerland?

Culinary Delights from the North Sea

If you spend your vacation in an affordable vacation apartment or a holiday home on the North Sea, you will encounter a wide range of culinary specialties. The cuisine of the North Sea is hearty to light, but always varied. Whether multi-course menus, freshly caught fish from the North Sea, homemade cakes and pies – the dishes are true delights for the palate. Regional dishes, such as kale with Pinkel sausage and game, are also among the delicacies of the region. In Wangerland, you have the choice between cozy farm cafes, modern, rustic, and traditional restaurants, country inns, fish sandwich stands, and beach bars. No matter which venue you choose, you can relax and enjoy the food. If you want to cook the regional dishes in your vacation apartment or holiday home, get delicious shrimp and fresh North Sea fish directly from the cutter at the outer harbor of Hooksiel. After a lovely beach walk, when you return to your vacation apartment by the dike, we recommend warming up with a tea with Kluntjes and Wulkje (rock candy and cream topping).

In the towns of Hohenkirchen, Hooksiel, Minsen, Middoge, Oldorf, Pakens, Schillig, St. Joost, Waddewarden, Westrum, Tettens, Wiarden, and Wüppels, there are numerous beautiful churches. They are testimonies of the culture and faith that have shaped Wangerland. The churches are open to everyone. In the summer, special church services, concerts, and exhibitions often take place here. Everyone is warmly invited, even if they do not often go to church.
