Pleasant little house in a quiet location

Ms. Ewan warmly welcomed us and took the time to explain everything and show us the house. The house has everything you need. Unlike some other accommodations, the beds are very good. Overall, we had a very nice time. I would like to add that the bakery is 150m away, so you always have fresh pastries for breakfast. There is a garage available, but also a larger parking space in front of the house. We would also like to thank Ms. Ewan.

We rented the house for a week and felt very comfortable. Check-in was easy. The booked laundry package even had the beds made up. Sun terrace with a view of the fountain. Supermarket 5 minutes away. Overall, a great little house, nicely furnished and ideal for cycling and hiking tours in the Eifel.

A beautiful apartment that is very well furnished. The kitchen leaves nothing to be desired; there is absolutely everything you need. We were received very friendly, making us feel comfortable from the very beginning. Absolutely everything was thought of. There were towels, bowls, and a really great dog bed for the dogs, which my two would have liked to keep. It was an all-around lovely holiday in a nice, cozy apartment in a beautiful area. Thank you very much for this unforgettable holiday.

How is the weather in the Volcanic Eifel?

Snowy winters and cool summers – the climate in the beautiful Eifel is predominantly influenced by the Atlantic. The low mountain range has a stimulating climate, which has a positive effect on the human body. Humid days are very rare here, and in the higher elevations, the air pollution is very low. For this reason, there are several climatic health resorts and air spa towns in the Eifel. The winters are relatively cold, and snow often falls in the higher elevations. The highest temperatures are reached in July, with the thermometer often climbing above 20 degrees during the day. The best time to travel depends on your planned activities. The low mountain range is a paradise for a hiking vacation. Due to the pleasant temperatures, not only autumn and spring but also the summer months are suitable for cycling, hiking, and canoeing. From early autumn to mid-October, a high-pressure area often builds up, resulting in sunny days. If you have school-age children, it is optimal to rent a vacation apartment or home during this period. For winter sports enthusiasts, the months of January and February are best suited. During this time, there is a good chance of snow. If there is no snow, some ski slopes are artificially snowed. If it's warm and sunny, you can also look for a destination with water and cool off. For example, there is the Meerfelder Maar, Gemündener Maar, Pulvermaar, or Weinfelder Maar, also known as Totenmaar. This is a maar located about two kilometers southeast of the town of Daun in the Eifel. Check in advance which maars are allowed for swimming.

Exploration through the Vulkaneifel

An affordable vacation apartment from private owners and a holiday home are excellent for a vacation in the Eifel. The Vulkaneifel stretches from the Wittlicher Senke to the Rhine. It borders the Südeifel to the southwest and south, the High Fens to the north with the Nordeifel, and the Belgian and Luxembourg Ardennes to the west. The Vulkaneifel is geographically divided into the Westeifel, Hocheifel, and Osteifel. The centers are the areas in the Mayen-Koblenz district and around Manderscheid and Daun. The hallmark of the Vulkaneifel are the water-filled maars, which were formed from steam eruptions. Of the over 70 counted maar volcanoes, only ten maars are still filled with water; the rest have silted up. The Maare-Mosel cycle path is one of the most beautiful and famous railway track cycle paths in Germany. On a disused railway line, the path leads along the Dauner Maars through the mountains, over viaducts, and through long tunnels to Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle.

In the small village of Wallenborn, a seemingly peaceful fountain begins to bubble. Out of nowhere, a fountain of nine-degree cold water shoots into the sky for six minutes. Just as suddenly as the spectacle began, it ends. The Wallenden Born is followed by the approximately four-kilometer-long Brubbelpfad. At various information points, you can learn about the local dialect, village life in Wallenborn, and the landscape's peculiarities. On cool days, the Badewelt in Bad Bertrich invites you to linger. Germany's only Glauber's salt thermal bath offers healing thermal water for soothing relaxation. The sauna landscape with lava light sauna, a slate sauna, Vulcanus forge, the Eifel hut sauna, and the volcano sauna provide unforgettable pleasure.
