Family tour

We have already been guests at Mrs. Biedermann's for the fourth time now, for 3-4 days each time. We, that's myself, my two daughters, my mother, and my sister-in-law. The apartment is spacious, you can walk around all the rooms in a circle, it's clean and has everything you need. We especially love the bread service and the jar of homemade jam that you get as a gift.

The apartment is located in the center of Usseln, but still quiet. It's not far to Willingen, so you can do a lot of activities. We always felt very comfortable and will definitely come back.

Perfect house for a large group. Clean and well equipped.
Quiet location in Usseln, beautiful hiking area, in a few minutes by bus you can go partying in Willingen... if you want.
Very nice landlady (the plum jam was delicious).
I think we were not at Mrs. Biedermann's for the last time.

Dream house in dream location

We spent our summer vacation this year in the Sauerland cottage "Kleines Glück" with 2 adults, 2 children (9 years/13 years) and our dog.
The house, the facilities, and the wonderful surroundings left nothing to be desired. It was truly "great happiness" for us to be here for 2 weeks. It was even more beautiful than in the pictures, and even though the weather was rather unsettled, we felt more than comfortable.
The great service of the Bangert family should also be mentioned: bread delivery to the house, a constantly stocked drinks fridge, and the very tasty eggs from Grandpa Karl's chickens. Overall, the Bangert family is more than accommodating, and Grandpa Karl is a real "gem".
We can only say "THANK YOU" for this great time and look forward to seeing you again in the "Kleines Glück"!!!!!

Hochsauerland: A Delight Not Just in Winter!

Sauerland, and especially Hochsauerland, has a very unique weather profile. The region is known in Germany for its heavy precipitation during the winter months, guaranteeing winter vacationers a fulfilling ski holiday in Hochsauerland. "Potthucke" is a "pot squatter" - a dish that is also a major specialty in the greater Hochsauerland region. It is a type of oven-baked casserole made from potato dough with meat fillings. This hearty dish is served with sweet beet syrup or rye bread. The abundant forests provide a seasonal supply of various game dishes on regional menus. Another meat-heavy specialty is minced pork with ham pieces, known in Sauerland as "Hallenberger Saumagen." Besides cows, goats native to Sauerland also provide milk for excellent raw milk cheeses, which are among the top regional products. "Nomen est omen" as the Winterberg region offers the best skiing and winter sports opportunities, for example in the "Skiliftkarussell Winterberg," which with its total of 27 km of slopes is the largest ski area in the Rothaar Mountains. Active vacationers with children – and of course without – also have plenty to enjoy in summer. It's no coincidence that Sauerland is called the land of hiking trails and lakes. Hiking, climbing in attractive climbing parks, cycling, or golfing are highly popular in Hochsauerland. The bike paths along rivers or on old railway tracks are particularly beautiful. This is ensured not only by beautiful accommodations with gardens but also by hundreds of excellently developed hiking trails that satisfy both long-distance hikers and those who prefer shorter circular routes. Famous long-distance hiking trails include the Rothaarsteig, which starts in Dillenburg and ends in Brilon. Less known, but no less beautiful, are the Hochsauerland Ridge Trail and the old Jacob's Pilgrimage Trail between Attendorn and Winterberg. In Meschede, "Ballonfahrten Sauerland" offers balloon rides, certainly one of the region's highlights, though only for those without a fear of heights! A visit to the town of Brilon is always worthwhile because of the beautiful old half-timbered houses, the town hall, numerous monuments, and the interesting "Haus Hövener" museum. A lovely excursion takes you to the Plästerlegge Nature Reserve and to the Bestwig Waterfall, the highest waterfall in North Rhine-Westphalia. If you're already there, it's not far to "Fort Fun," the Wild West-themed adventure park. Among the natural highlights are the Kahle Asten and the Bruchhauser Stones above the Gierskoppbach Valley.
