A walk in the Wadden Sea is a very special experience that you should not miss. Equally beautiful are extended bike rides in the marsh or hikes on the dikes. The local salt marshes are also admirable, where you can enjoy unique hikes and the views over nature and the mudflats. Fedderwardersiel's attractions consist of old fishermen's houses and the picturesque lock harbor with its many shrimp cutters. Around the basin, a certain number of gastronomy has gathered.
A highlight is a trip on the MS Wega II ship, which takes your family to seal islands in the Wadden Sea. Here, you can admire the peaceful mammals and experience them in their natural environment. Many guests travel to the annual highlight of the region, when Fedderwardersiel hosts the Cutter Regatta featuring a paper boat regatta, mud tug-of-war, Lower Saxony shrimp peeling championship, and the opportunity to ride on a shrimp cutter.
Beach holidays in Fedderwardersiel are particularly successful with children. The tides, which bring and take away the sea, are a lot of fun for the little ones, especially splashing in the Wadden Sea. Popular not only among children is the Lama Ranch "Narvanas" in Butjadingen, where 30 lamas and alpacas, peacocks, and three kangaroos have a loving home. The ranch operators provide informative farm tours and offer their wool products in the farm shop. A hike with the popular lamas costs 70 € and is independent of the number of participants. (As of December 2023) Feel free to plan your holiday with your dog in Fedderwardersiel. There are special dog beaches and off-leash areas. And don't miss participating in a guided mudflat hike with your dog and family.
Besides fresh fish directly from the sea and pickled herring, you should not miss the "Krabben" or "Granat". These are deliciously tasting North Sea shrimps, served on bread rolls or in scrambled eggs, and – especially fine – as a sauce with fish. In winter, the North German enjoys kale with Pinkel, a tasty, spicy sausage and smoked pork.
Walk along the Art Promenade between Burhave and Fedderwardersiel and discover the outdoor art created during a sculpture symposium. If you want to learn more about the surrounding nature and its creatures, you should visit the Museum Nationalparkhaus Fedderwardersiel. It features varied special exhibitions and vivid information about the Wadden Sea and the history of the region.
