Very gladly again!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful holiday home on the North Sea. We particularly liked the quiet location – here you can really unwind and enjoy relaxation. At the same time, shopping facilities, restaurants, attractions, and the beach are quickly and conveniently accessible.

The house is lovingly and tastefully furnished and offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. One immediately notices that the hosts have put a lot of thought into it: The furnishings are complete, practical, and very comfortable. We lacked nothing.

From the first moment, we felt at home and were able to enjoy our vacation to the fullest. A perfect place to experience the North Sea and let the soul dangle. We would love to come back and can recommend this holiday home without reservation!

Everything is great, so cozy and modern, exactly my taste, a well-maintained holiday apartment to feel good in. The process was simply good: goods arrived in May 2026 in sunshine. I would gladly book this very beautiful property again. Best regards, Ulrike Hohloch-Kemski

Which sights are there in Dangast?

Extraordinary Sculptures in Dangast

If you've rented a private vacation apartment in Dangast, you're in a wonderful location to explore the attractions of the region. A definite highlight is the Vareler Hafen, a former shellfish and cargo port, which captivates with its largely unchanged atmosphere. Another popular destination is the Arngaster Lighthouse. Located in the middle of the Jadebusen, it can be reached at low tide with a guided mudflat hike or at high tide comfortably from the port with the "Etta von Dangast". A curious attraction is the Phallus by Eckart Grenzer at the flood edge near the Kurhaus beach. This sculpture represents the natural encounter of the genders and is a particularly popular photo spot in the area. On the promenade, there is also the impressive sculpture The Gate to the Wadden Sea. The viewer looks into the open object through the narrow gap at the Jadebusen and a sunken church.

What do you need to experience in Dangast?

Off to See the Whales

Almost daily, for example, the MS "Etta von Dangast" departs from Dangast harbor for trips on the Jadebusen. Trips to Wilhelmshaven or to the seal banks are particularly popular. You can also do something for your health: with the Iodine-Salt Spring in Dangast. The salt content of the spring water is about three times as concentrated as the water of the North Sea and is said to have healing effects. Don't miss this experience and relax during your vacation in Dangast!

What can you experience in Dangast with children?

Tracing the Origins of Humanity in Dangast

An experience for both young and old is the information and experience center National Park House "Alte Schule Dangast". In a large exhibition, you can learn more about the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. The uniqueness of the region is made tangible with aquariums, an interactive wall for children, and constantly changing special topics. A destination for the family is also the Landscape Exploration Trail, which connects the typical landscape spaces of Varel. The 50-kilometer-long route passes by the Wadden Sea National Park, through fertile marshland, or along birch and alder groves. At eight stations, you also learn interesting facts about the ecological, landscape, and historical peculiarities of Dangast and the surrounding area. The Sculpture Trail around the Jadebusen is also an exciting route for families. The path combines themes of art, nature, dike construction, coastal protection, and even the question of the origin of humanity.

Where can I eat out in Dangast?

That's Enjoyment in North German Style!

Right at the harbors of the region and not far from your vacation apartment in Dangast at a fair price, you can of course get the legendary fresh fish from the cutter. Depending on the season, there are herrings, cod, shrimps, and more. But the North German cuisine has much more to offer. If you prefer meat, we recommend dishes with dyke lamb or steaks from the salt meadow cattle. Cozy cafes and eateries also invite you to enjoy coffee specialties and homemade cakes. Often, there are also homemade delicacies available for takeout, such as Norderney ham or the vitamin-rich and delicious sea buckthorn juice.

What is a must-see in Dangast?

Wattgolf and Many Wonderful Motifs

Dangast offers not only beaches, sea, mudflats, and relaxation but also cultural delights. For instance, take a journey on the Dangaster Art Trail. On detailed 19 picture panels, you gain insights into the artistic past of the place. The spa administration also offers guided tours along the trail. The Franz Radziwill House is also considered a highlight of the area. Here, you can admire the studio and various works of the famous artist from Wednesday to Sunday between 3 and 6 PM. On weekends, the house opens at 11 AM. (As of August 2023) The Galerie Willy Hinck with a historical archive and countless photographs and sketches is also among the cultural treasures of the place. The Brücke painters found suitable motifs for their paintings in the seclusion and untouched nature of the North Sea coast, which are displayed here. A cultural institution has now become the annual Wattgolf event, organized by the action art group "Menschenmüll". The group also annually hosts the satirical Christmas Theater at the Old Kurhaus.
