We had a wonderful stay in this cozy holiday home! The fireplace was a fantastic addition for the chilly evenings, and the outdoor space was perfect for our children to play. Just a short walk to the beach made our mornings delightful, and we enjoyed barbecuing together in the garden.

What do you need to experience in Bastorf?

Attractions in Bastorf and Surrounding Areas

From your vacation apartment or private property in Bastorf, you can reach numerous attractions along the Bay of Mecklenburg within minutes. Start your tour in the neighboring seaside resort of Kühlungsborn. Stroll along the more than three-kilometer-long promenade between the town and the harbor. With the previously mentioned old Molli steam locomotive, continue to Heiligendamm. The narrow-gauge railway was inaugurated at the end of the 19th century. In Heiligendamm, the classical spa architecture of the old villas and manor houses, now partly used as hotels or health resorts, is impressive. You will feel transported back to earlier times. Hanseatic "urban" flair, on the other hand, is found in the nearby city of Rostock, about 20 kilometers away. The old town fascinates with outstanding buildings of North German Brick Gothic in the Hanseatic style. St. Mary's Church in the center and the Rostock Town Hall are considered two of the most significant buildings of this architecture on the German coast. Art lovers should visit the Art Hall, the only museum building constructed during the GDR era, with a collection of works from Expressionism and New Objectivity. Also, take a trip to the shipyard in Warnemünde. Now rent a cozy vacation accommodation in the seaside resort, perhaps in Hohen Niendorf, or an apartment on a manor with a fireplace and a view of nature for you and your family, and spend an unforgettable holiday tailored to your personal desires in Western Pomerania.

What can you experience in Bastorf with children?

Adventure Bay of Leisure Pirates

Enjoy your holiday with a dog on the Mecklenburg Baltic coast near Warnemünde. Many landlords of apartments and holiday homes have pets themselves or allow four-legged guests. Dogs are also allowed on some beach sections. For children, during the summer months in the "Adventure Bay," the tourist offices provide a logbook. On treasure hunts and at pirate festivals, the little sailors can collect points and experience plenty of adventures. Harbor festivals, beach festivals, and sports activities on the water and on land complete the leisure offerings for the whole family. Take horseback riding trips, bike tours, or boat trips on the Baltic Sea with the family. The Riedensee Nature Reserve is a 90-hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, located one kilometer north of Kägsdorf. The seaside resort of Bastorf is an ideal starting point to combine maritime and land excursions in the region.

Where can I eat out in Bastorf?

From Traditional Hearty to Haute Cuisine

In Bastorf on the Mecklenburg Baltic coast, you can expect typical North German cuisine. Near your private holiday house or apartment, numerous gastronomic highlights await. Naturally, Baltic Sea fish tops the menus of restaurants. In addition, numerous freshwater fish from the lake landscapes of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are found. Potatoes, locally called Tüften, dominate as a side dish. The traditional cuisine is hearty and simple, yet you can even find star-rated restaurants of the highest class here. However, despite all love for culinary excursions, beer remains the most popular drink. A specialty of the coast is products made from sea buckthorn. You'll find jams, juices, and liqueurs made from local berries as popular souvenirs to take home.

How do I come to Bastorf?

Traveling to the Baltic Sea by Car, Train, or Steam Locomotive

The municipality or seaside resort of Bastorf is located on the Baltic coast in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. To the west are Rerik and the Island of Poel, while to the east lie the seaside resorts of Kühlungsborn and Heiligendamm. Traveling to your vacation apartment or private property in Bastorf, such as in Hohen Niendorf, is accessible from both the east and west via the A20 motorway. From the greater Berlin area, take the A24 and A19 to the Rostock interchange, then onto the A20 towards Wismar. From the Kröpelin exit, it's about 27 kilometers to your accommodation in Bastorf. Kröpelin is also your destination station if arriving by train. With the historic Molli steam locomotive, you can travel through Bad Doberan to the neighboring community of Kühlungsborn. Book a vacation accommodation now, perhaps on a manor with a fireplace or an apartment in nature for a holiday tailored to your personal desires with your family in Western Pomerania. Spend idyllic vacations in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany!
