Location and surroundings of object

Sankt Peter

Our holiday town is located in idyllic Schanfigg valley. In the early middle ages, hemp was cultivated in the valley, and part of the valley's name indicates that. St. Peter (or "Sankt Peter" as we say in Switzerland) lies at an elevation of 1,253 metres and is located approximately 20 km from Chur, the capital city of Canton Grisons. Chur is easily reached by car, the Rhaetian Railway, or the regular post bus line. On January 1, 2013, St. Peter became part of Arosa municipality and comprises several hamlets and small villages. Outside from St. Peter in the direction to Arosa is a petrol Station located.

In the village general store, which offers the very first shopping possibility in the valley (previously, St. Peter didn't have any general store), you can buy pretty much everything you need, including food and provisions and equipment for your planned excursions.

Tourist Attractions & Leisure Activities

The beautiful church with its steeple - which in medieval times used to be a defensive tower - has first been mentioned in old documents dating from 831 CE. Towards the end of the 16th century the village's official language switched from Rhaeto-Romanic to German, and it also joined the Reformed Church. Until the beginning of the 21st century, St. Peter was the administrative seat for the rural municipality Schanfigg Valley.

After Arosa proper, St. Peter has nowadays developed into the valley's second most important tourism centre. The skiing areas are spread out across some 20 square kilometres and particulary offer families ideal skiing possibilities. If you'd rather visit in summer, you can explore the valley via numerous hiking trails ( the Schanfigg High Altitude Trail).
Beside that, various events take place in the valley and nearby regions, for instance the Humour Festival or the Jazz Festival.

Our holiday flat is in any case suited as an ideal base for your holiday in Switzerland. Discover St. Peter in summer and in winter! Surroundings

The region surrounding St. Peter has a lot to offer to its visitors. Our chalet is in any case an ideal base for your excursions into the nearer and farther countryside.

Discover the canton capital Chur

Chur can be reached easily and quickly from St. Peter. Regarded as Switzerland's oldest city, Chur has a lot to offer, for example its car-free old town, city excursions for adults and children, a large variety of restaurants, and diverse shopping opportunities. From Chur's "Brambrüesch" mountain you can enjoy a magnificent panorama view across the city and the Rhine valley.

Leisure Tips for the Region

At Chur's "Aquamarin" water park the whole family can enjoy a cool dip. For relaxing and re-charging your batteries you shouldn't miss a visit to the "Tamina" thermal baths in Bad Ragaz, or plan in a visit to the "Aquandeer" mineral baths in Andeer or the thermal baths of Vals.

Thrills for the entire family await at the 3 kilometres long summer and winter sledding course with its 30 curves and bends located at Pradaschier mountain in Churwalden.
One of Europe's longest sledding courses ( km) is located Bergün. After your sled ride you also might want to visit the railway museum with its railway history educational trail.

The biking park in Flims appeals to every enthusiastic biker, and here you can try out various stunts while a soft landing is guaranteed thanks to air pillows.

At the valley station Hochwang you can enjoy and practice the archery. The park offers a great variety from 28 3D animals.

If you like it fast and thrilling, you also shouldn't miss out on the Bonaduz Indoor Go-Cart Circuit.

Your children's hearts will beat faster at the Heidi Village (yes, we are in Switzerland!) in Maienfeld, while shopaholics will find all well-konown designer labels at the designer fashion outlet in Landquart ( Calvin Klein, Diesel, Dockers, Geox, Hugo Boss, Nike, Navyboot, etc.).

Arosa Bärenland and Bärengolf
The Bärenland was opened in 2018 and there you can learn a lot aroun Brown bears and see them in a huge outdoor enclosure. After that you can visit the mini golf area and have some fun playing there.

There is a bus running from Fatschel (Sankt Peter) to Alp Falur (Tschiertschen). This is a nice round trip or you can only do parts of the trip.

Discover Nature Attractions

Canton Grisors offers a plethora of natural attractions:
•Experience the awe-inspiring Rhine Gorge from the comfort of a train or post bus, or explore it on foot.
•Hike to the observation platform "Der Mauersegler" in Conn and enjoy a marvellous view across the valley.
•Viamala Gorge with its almost vertical rock walls makes for a unique hiking experience. During an organised treasure hunts children can retrieve the "treasures" of Viamala Gorge.
•In the tectonics arena (Tektonikarena) in Sadona you can wonder at and examine the most diverse rock strata.
