Location and surroundings of object

The house is located on the edge of the core zone of the very beautifully preserved village of Vicosoprano, in a quiet location, close to the village centre and the Maira mountain stream. The village is characterised by a good infrastructure with shopping facilities and excellent restaurants. Various summer and winter sports facilities in the immediate vicinity, wonderful hiking possibilities. Vicosoprano is easily accessible by public transport from St. Moritz (29 km away), the post bus stop Plazza is only a few metres away from the Cad Ciävra. The village of Maloja is just a few kilometres away and connects two fascinating landscapes: the Upper Engadine lake district and the southern Graubünden valley of Bergell. Maloja has been the starting point of the legendary Engadin Skimarathon since 1969, making it the cross-country mecca par excellence. In the midst of the magnificent mountain landscape and the unique expanse of the Upper Engadine lake district, guests will find not only sports, cultural and culinary offerings, but above all peace and relaxation

St. Moritz is very close by:
St. Moritz is not just a holiday resort. St. Moritz is the birthplace of Alpine winter holidays (1864) and the venue of two Winter Olympic Games. And yet: St. Moritz originally owes its importance to its healing springs, which have been known for 3000 years and established the place as a summer spa early on. Today, St. Moritz is the world's number one holiday destination in the mountains.

Vicosoprano, the old main village

Vicosoprano was once the main village of the valley, and it is still the largest village in the Bergell. It is nestled in meadows and forests at 1087 m.

In this village you can visit the churches of San Cassiano, built around the first millennium, and the early baroque Santa Trinità. The cobbled streets are lined with patrician houses which, despite their age, still have façades with precious sgraffiti and noble coats of arms. Also interesting are the inscriptions such as "Non c'è uomo su questa terra che non abbia un briciolo di follia" (There is no man on earth who is not a little crazy).

Near the main square, with its typical stone fountain, is il Pretorio, the old municipal and judicial seat dating back to 1583. By the gate, under the representations of justice and temperance, stands the pillory block with necklace. Next to the town hall rises the medieval, round Senvelen Tower.
The sight of the torture chamber and the instruments of torture still sends shivers down your spine. Until the 17th century, alleged witches were imprisoned here and quite a few ended up on the gallows. Its stakes still stand on the edge of the village.

If you stroll further through the village, you come to the old arched bridge with a stunning view of the mighty mountains on both sides of the valley.
