We had a wonderful stay in this house, you have good privacy and the enclosed garden makes it very relaxing with the dog. Everything you needed was there. The house is a bit dated, but I still found it nicer than the brand new houses in the holiday park, where everyone can look onto your terrace. Medemblik is a charming place and we took many nice trips in the area and to the sea. My friend found it very great as a kayaker that there is a launch site directly at the house and made many paddling trips on the canals.
Overall a very nice, relaxed vacation. We would love to come back.

Beach Bungalow Lemmer
Lemmer
We felt very comfortable.
The house is modern and lovingly decorated with several decorative items, all coordinated well together. Not too much and not too little.
We had the theme of summer, with quite a bit in the color orange.
Pictures, dishes, decorative accessories. Greatly coordinated.
Kitchen well equipped.
The beds very good.
Cleaning supplies, dish soap, etc. available.
The garden very well maintained and the various terraces top. We really liked that there are garden loungers and no dogs are allowed.
The communication with the hosts was excellent.
The proximity to shopping options and restaurants in Lemmer, as well as to the beach, is also great.
Since we are only traveling by bike, the distance is not a problem. It would also be possible on foot. A cart might be a suggestion for shopping or for loading/unloading from the parking lot. But it worked for us as it was. Ultimately, for us, the 3-week vacation was super relaxing and refreshing. Thank you for that. . . . . . . .

Kerkje van Peins
Leeuwarden
We spent 10 days in this great accommodation. The small church was beautifully converted, and everything that a holiday home must have was considered. With great attention to detail, everything was implemented. Nothing is missing. Everything is very clean and tidy. We were welcomed with a few nice gestures from the super hospitable landlady. She is very interested in the tenants having a pleasant stay. The surroundings are excellent for a few bike tours. Franeker, Harlingen, and Leeuwarden are quickly accessible. The North Sea dike invites you to walk or cycle.
All in all, a great vacation in a very quiet, relaxed environment. We can definitely recommend the 'Kerkje van Peins.'

Among the most famous attractions in Friesland is the De Oldehove. The never-completed church tower stands in the medieval old town of Leeuwarden and is reminiscent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Once there was a terp here. In the summer months, you can climb this tower and perhaps spot your holiday home with a large garden from above. The 6000-hectare Drents-Friese Wold National Park enchants with its mix of stream valleys, heath, forest, and drifting sand. Riders use various routes in the well-signposted national park for horseback riding. Plan the routes in your holiday home before your ride to savor the hours on horseback in the Frisian nature. Discover pure nature and interesting details at the visitor center in Terwisscha. East of Oude Willem in Prinsenbos, you will experience a surprise: free-roaming horses in this unique landscape of Friesland are a touching experience. With these impressions, you return to your modern apartment in Lemmer or the holiday home in Makkum, looking forward to getting to know Frisian hospitality better.
The Friesian horse, or Friese, is one of the oldest horse breeds in Europe. Admire the horses that once originated from the province of Friesland. Today, these extraordinary horses, which withstand the weather of Friesland, are bred in purebred. Alternatively, visit Wangerooge in the Wadden Sea of Lower Saxony. With 7.94 square kilometers, it is the second largest island of the East Frisian Islands. At the National Park House Wangerooge, learn all about the importance of the Wadden Sea. The best way to get to know the charming landscape of Friesland and the surroundings of your holiday home. Interested? Just book a last-minute holiday and head to Friesland. In your cozy holiday home by the water, everything you need for your vacation is available.
For relaxed holiday days in the Netherlands, you have a wide range of accommodation options: Rent an apartment in the middle of the city of Groningen at a reasonable price from a private owner. Many rent out a villa on the beach or near a holiday park privately. Particularly beautiful is a bungalow in a direct location to a park or near a cozy restaurant. A cozy holiday home or a bungalow with a small garden is ideal for a vacation. In a beautiful canal house, admire the oldest and largest mechanically operated planetarium in the Netherlands at the Eisinga Planetarium. Admire the astronomical instruments and the former wool combing mill before delving further into the astronomy of today. With this knowledge, the next evening is particularly exciting: Admire the starry sky above your holiday home on the water and interpret the stars over the province of Friesland. An entertaining destination for your family-friendly holiday in Friesland is the Northwest German School Museum. Located in Zetel-Bohlenbergerfeld, the school museum shows the school life of a rural school in the 20th century. In the coastal resort of Hooksiel, you should plan a stay by the water. Snuggle up in a beach chair and be enchanted by the picturesque sunset.
The cuisine of Friesland is diverse and will definitely whet your appetite as you browse the menu. How about Greetsieler crab soup or kale with pork cheek? A schnapps is recommended as a conclusion to this typical kale dish. In your apartment, Holsteiner Katenschinken with a cool beer or a Friesengeist is just the thing after an exciting day at the beach in Hooksiel. Unusual but delicious is the beer soup with bread. On cold days, it warms perfectly and is considered a specialty in Friesland. A peculiarity that is still maintained in some households in Friesland today: As a guest, one should not immediately accept an invitation to eat, but first decline three times and then take a seat. Different country, different customs? Either way - look forward to a relaxing vacation in a town like Lemmer or enjoy an apartment in the region and in a quiet location with a view of the North Sea.
Get to know the province of Friesland with your family outside your holiday home by visiting a museum and changing exhibitions. From your apartment with a garden for the dog, you can easily reach the renowned Fries Museum in Leeuwarden. The capital of Friesland has a distinctive feature: it was laid out in a star shape. Equally interesting is the Maritime Museum in Sneek: The Fries Scheepvaart Museum brings you closer to the history of seafaring in Friesland. Immerse yourself in the extensive library and let the film screening room tell you about the events of the fishermen and sailors of the country. The historic old town of Harlingen with warehouses at the harbor should be on your list. Many a church in Ameland near your accommodation impresses with historically interesting facts. A museum in the province reveals how life once unfolded in the Netherlands. Your holiday home seems almost too large and modern in comparison. It doesn't have to be the large museum in Groningen that tops your list.
Fancy a vacation in Friesland? Simply rent a cozy holiday home in Leeuwarden in a quiet location. If a house is too big for you, then a cozy apartment in Lemmer will suffice. It's nice to rent a place where you have the sea right in front of your holiday home. This way, you stay private, keeping to yourself in your house in Friesland. It's best to rent an affordable holiday home in Makkum from a private owner. Check with the landlord whether your dog can be accommodated in a place like a house or apartment. It would be a pity if you find a comfortable holiday home on the Ijsselmeer with its own boat dock, only to leave the dog behind when visiting a place like Hooksiel. From the moment you travel to your apartment by car or train, you will be enchanted by Dutch Friesland. Enjoy the nature that you can experience right outside your bungalow on the beach or an apartment in Jever. Walk through Groningen and learn more about the historical significance of Friesland, which warmly welcomes you and your family during your holiday with your dog in Friesland. The Friesland region is rich in historical and cultural offerings. Open your heart and let yourself be enchanted by the Frisian impressions in Sneek and its surroundings. Undoubtedly, the Ijsselmeer is a sight worth seeing, but the proximity to the North Sea is also impressive on your first beach walk. Among the five West Frisian Islands in the North Sea that are inhabited, Ameland stands out. Here you will find many attractions and accommodation close to the water.
If you visit Friesland, you should definitely visit the places Lemmer, Makkum and Stavoren. Here you can hike in the midst of untouched nature, enjoy the cuisine of the region, and spend relaxing days in idyllic places.
