Delightful holiday bungalow *dog allowed

Beautiful holiday home within walking distance to the beach!

We (2 adults + dog) felt very comfortable in the holiday home. The property is fenced. However, the fences are surmountable for larger dogs with a hunting instinct. Therefore, we mostly kept our dog on a long leash in the garden for safety reasons. For the original planning with 4 adults, there are also sleeping accommodations available, but due to the room layout and size, it is more suitable for a family with 2 children. It would also be nice to have a few more plates and cutlery. Then the dishwasher would be worth it too. But it was sufficient as it was.

Leaves no wishes unfulfilled

The fully equipped house leaves nothing to be desired. From the televisions (there's even one in the bedroom, for those who need it) to the fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine (which we had to descale first), everything is there for a satisfying holiday experience. The living comfort is very good, the location as well: 2 minutes on foot to the dike, where you can walk to the center of Lemmer in 25 minutes. Of course, it's faster by car, with parking at the house and in the nearby residential complex. The house is clean and well-maintained, with attention to detail. The service of the landlord is particularly noteworthy: upon our arrival on Saturday evening, the internet did not work due to a faulty cable at the router. After a call to the landlord, the cable was replaced the very next day (Sunday!). Conclusion: This accommodation is absolutely recommended.

Well-maintained holiday home with a beautiful garden

Nice and well-maintained holiday home in a clean and tidy holiday park.
What we particularly liked is that the holiday home has three bedrooms.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything necessary.
The garden is very well-kept and offers many seating options.
The contact with the landlords was quick and uncomplicated.
The area around Lemmer is very beautiful - many lovely towns can be reached in a short time. Overall, we were very satisfied and felt very comfortable.

Which sights are there in Lemmer?

Your holiday home in Lemmer is surrounded by lakes and forest

The cozy center of Lemmer, with its many terraces right on the water, the cafes, and the numerous attractions such as the old lock, brims with zest for life. Within walking distance from your holiday home in Lemmer is the Lemmer IJsselmeer beach. You will also find various beaches along the inland seas in the Lemmer area. The unique nature consisting of many lakes and forests can be explored in various ways: walking, cycling, scooter tours, horseback riding, or rent a boat for a tour on the IJsselmeer. Also, visit nearby towns like Sloten, Stavoren, or Hindeloopen. The water-rich holiday region of Lemmer-Tjeukemeer offers perfect lake holidays, such as the “IJsselmeer”, the “Tjeukemeer”, and the “Groote Brekken”. The lakes are a playground for water sports and fishing enthusiasts of all levels. The charm of the region is further enhanced by the adjacent forest areas “Gaasterland” and “Kuinderbos”.

What do you need to experience in Lemmer?

Lemmer: Home of the biggest party on the Ijsselmeer

The Lemsterweek takes place every year in August and is a popular party and fair week in Lemmer. The biggest attraction this week is Skûtsjesilen in the bay of Lemmer. On Tuesday evening, the first Skûtsjes (traditional Frisian sailing ships) arrive at the dock in the village, which is accompanied by lively activity at the harbor. When the result of the 2-day race in Lemmer is known on Thursday, there is reason to celebrate! The various DJs and bands performing on the street make it an even bigger party with music, food, and drinks.

What can you experience in Lemmer with children?

Exploration tour on lakes

The location amidst the Frisian lakes makes Lemmer the ideal place for many forms of water sports and fishing. Especially ice skating has a tradition in Lemmer. When severe frosts are forecasted, large parking lots are flooded and then – together with the frozen canals – form large ice skating rinks. Sailing is also a popular sport in Lemmer. With many sailing schools, the region around your private holiday home in Lemmer is particularly family-friendly and offers a variety of excursion possibilities for young and old. In the De Orchideeen Hove Park, there are orchids, parrots, and butterflies in all colors. On about 25,000 sqm, you can admire lifelike tropical flora and fauna. A visit is also worth the impressive Dolphinarium in Harderwijk. The largest marine animal park in Europe offers nine entertaining shows and performances, providing a varied program that appeals not only to children.

Where can I eat out in Lemmer?

Try the culinary specialties of Friesland

Dutch cuisine is usually associated with Hagelslag for breakfast on rolls, pancakes, and Bitterballen or Kroketten, Vla, a liquid pudding, and licorice, which tastes quite different from that in Germany. No trip to Holland would be complete without Pommes Special, Saté, herring and shrimp rolls, or Kibbeling! But from your holiday home in Lemmer, you are also quickly at a good restaurant. The “eerste Aanleg” offers excellent service and the 45° North Plate – definitely try it and bring a big appetite. There are also many small private breweries in Friesland again, producing delicious, bitter beer specialties.

What is a must-see in Lemmer?

Lemmer has much more to offer than just beaches and water sports

Here stands a unique industrial monument, the “Woudagemaal”: the only still functioning steam pumping station in the world. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and can be visited for €9.50 per person. (As of November 2023) Also visit the enchanting town of Giethoorn. It is called “the Venice of the North” because of the many canals in the town. Almost the entire village lies along the “dorpsgracht”, an approximately eight-kilometer-long village canal, and countless cross canals. If you have a bit more time, you should not miss Amsterdam. Visit the famous Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House, or one of the numerous other museums.
