What do you need to experience in Wenduine?
The Seaside Resorts of the Belle Époque
The character of the seaside resorts Wenduine and De Haan is shaped by holiday homes, villas, and hotels in the style of the Belle Époque. It is a joy to stroll along the promenade, feel the sea wind on your face, and stop here and there at one of the cafes and restaurants. The town hall of De Haan is housed in a former Grand Hotel. During the Pentecost weekend, do not miss the traditional sea blessing in Wenduine. According to legend, fishermen in the North Sea found a large cross that was supposed to have come from Old Wenduine. Right on the doorstep of your accommodation in Wenduine is the "Spioenkop," located in a vast dune landscape. It is the highest point on the otherwise flat Belgian coast. Between the dunes, there are kilometers of marked hiking trails – a perfect destination for a holiday with dogs in Wenduine. Here, your four-legged family members can run and frolic to their heart's content. The seaside resorts on Belgium's coast are also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Sailors and kite surfers, in particular, will find their bliss here. On land, you can enjoy horseback riding, hiking, cycling, and golfing. For children, there are several fun parks, climbing walls, water parks, mini-golf courses, and a play forest. Boredom is definitely not an option.
Where can I eat out in Wenduine?
This is Wenduine: Mussels, Fish, and the Finest Beer
Around your private holiday home or affordable apartment in Wenduine, you will find numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars of all kinds. Naturally, fish and freshly harvested mussels top the menus along the coast. The Belgian mussels served with fries are well-known. Plaice and sole are caught right off the doorstep. Herring, cod, and haddock come from the North Sea and the Channel. In Belgium, fish, mussels, and meat are often stewed in beer. Try cod cooked with bacon in beer or Stoofvlees, a stew of meat and vegetables cooked in beer. Speaking of beer – Belgium is not called the land of a thousand beers for nothing. Almost every small town has its own brewery with numerous different beer specialties ranging from sour and fruity to bitter and strong. The traditional Trappist beer from the monastic breweries is especially popular.
How do I come to Wenduine?
A Stone's Throw to the Belgian North Sea Coast
