Super-class holiday home.

Almost everything is great:
Unfortunately, the mobile sun protection (2 sun umbrellas) poses a concrete danger due to frequent tipping over at wind force 5 (29/38 km/h)!!
A stationary pergola - slatted roof of 3 x 4 m, with sun protection on the east-west side, on the terrace of the holiday home, is absolutely necessary.
Only in this way can the holiday guests be permanently and safely protected from harmful UV sun rays.
Best regards,
Gerd Neumann

Which sights are there in Malchow?

Swing Bridge, Monastery Complex, National Park

Renting private accommodation, an apartment, or a holiday home in Malchow allows for an extended city trip. Several attractions enrich your stay. The monastery is one of the major attractions. In 1298, the Order of Penitents of Saint Mary Magdalene from Neu Röbel was given a building to establish the monastery. Over time, the ensemble expanded significantly. The monastery church is also part of the complex, as is the Engelsche Garten. The church is a very distinctive brick building. Since 1997, the monastery church has been owned by the city of Malchow and has since served as the exhibition space for the Mecklenburg Organ Museum. Admission is €7 for adults and €4 for children aged 6-13 (as of November 2023). The museum's monthly opening hours can be found

What do you need to experience in Malchow?

Windmill and Boat Trips

Experience the extraordinary diversity and beauty of the Mecklenburg Lake District - with the passenger boat service Wichmann in Plau am See. From Lake Plau, you can explore the beautiful surroundings by boat. Enjoy the panorama of the waterway and visit the numerous historical attractions of the individual places - including Göhren-Lebbin or Alt-Malchow. Just for the beautiful nature alone, it is worth renting an affordable apartment or holiday home. Another highlight is the City Windmill of Malchow, which was restored in 1995. The mill features a rotatable cap and a fully functional wing. In the entrance hall, visitors can view various exhibits. Here, the restoration work is also documented. One floor up, you can take a look into the prehistoric world of the Malchow area. On another floor up, you can find unique pieces of the mill's equipment. In the immediate vicinity of the mill, the Malchow Ceramics Circle offers its works.

What can you experience in Malchow with children?

Monkeys, Tobogganing, Nature, and Spectacle

Malchow and the Mecklenburg Lake District are perfect for a holiday with the whole family - pets included. Popular destinations include Malchower Lake as well as Plauer See and Fleesensee. Müritz, Plauer See, and Fleesensee are part of a chain of lakes. Fleesensee merges into Malchower Lake to the west. In Untergöhren, the holiday and leisure complex Land Fleesensee regularly attracts families. A major highlight for both big and small children is the summer toboggan run with monkey forest in Malchow. In a 1.8-hectare enclosure, you can interact with a large family of Barbary macaques. The summer toboggan run stretches over a length of 800 meters. A tow lift takes you up the 30 meters. Experience a theatrical spectacle at the Müritz! In the summer, the Müritz-Saga is performed on the open-air stage in Waren. Adventurous stories full of action, humor, and love are performed - with themes from the history of the region. Just a few minutes' walk from the historic city center, the beautiful setting of the open-air stage on the Mühlenberg awaits.

Where can I eat out in Malchow?

Ingredients from Forests and Lakes

Either you cook in your apartment or holiday home, or you get to know some of the best restaurants and eateries in and around Malchow. At the Seelust restaurant in Röbel, you can enjoy a rich selection of Mecklenburg dishes. With a winter garden with a fireplace and a lakeside terrace, a wonderful ambiance is created. Right in the historic old town of Waren is the "Alte Reusenhus". On Fridays and Saturdays, there is fish or meat as a special dining experience on the "Hot Stone." The terrace is directly adjacent to the shopping zone. Here, you can also buy smoked fish to take away. The Seestern restaurant in Röbel prepares dishes with fresh ingredients from the surrounding lakes and forests. Enjoy fresh fish from the Müritz or, if you are not a fish lover, game from local hunting grounds. The Landhaus Sietow offers both rustic and elegant dining. The menu features Mecklenburg specialties as well as traditional German and international dishes.

What is a must-see in Malchow?

Kiek in un wunner di!

Renting an apartment or holiday home in Malchow also means immersing yourself in the land, the region, and its people. The best way to do this is by experiencing the cultural life and traditions of the region. The Malchow Folk Festival, declared an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2014, is highly recommended. It is the oldest local festival in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and takes place on the first weekend of July. For 160 years, the focus has been on music, people, and community. Countless businesses, clubs, and citizens participate in an impressive parade. In the building that housed the "Film-Palast" during the GDR era, the DDR Museum is now located. Since 1999, the impressive exhibition has been continuously expanded. Numerous memorabilia on topics such as weddings, cinema, youth consecration, or school start are displayed here. The exhibition also provides detailed insights into the everyday work and vacation life of GDR citizens. A focus is also on the television, radio, and photographic technology of the 1940s. "Kiek in un wunner di" - under this name, you will find a museum of a special kind near the monastery church. Here, you can see rarities and curiosities from the everyday life of the population during the first half of the 20th century. You can visit a complete cobbler's workshop, a printing shop, or an old classroom. You will also learn about various curious items (Tefifon or cobbler's ball). The motto: "Touch, Try, Participate." The opening hours can be found here.
