The second time at the Kühnel family, this time in the front house. The holiday home corresponds to the description and is really great. We felt very comfortable with our two children. The holiday home is very tastefully and comfortably furnished, with everything you need. The direct connection to Fleesensee and the various leisure activities made the holiday very uncomplicated and entertaining. The booking and handling with the Kühnel family also went smoothly. How is the weather at Fleesensee?

Where Western Meets Eastern Europe

From June to winter, the area is influenced by the warmed water masses. In spring, the cooled Müritz has the opposite effect. The "climatic health resort" Malchow rightly bears this additional name. Swing Bridge, Monastery Complex, National Park

The monastery is one of the biggest attractions. In 1298, the Order of Penitents of Saint Mary Magdalene from Neu Röbel was given a building to establish the monastery. Over time, the ensemble expanded more and more. In 1972, Gertrud von Lücken, the last domina, died and was buried in the monastery cemetery. The monastery church also belongs to the monastery, as does the Engelsche Garden. The church is a very striking brick building. The interior of the church is spanned by ribbed vaults. Since 1997, the church has been owned by the city of Malchow. Since then, it has served as an exhibition space for the Mecklenburg Organ Museum. You should also take a look at the town church. The Müritz National Park covers an area of 320 square kilometers, making it the largest terrestrial national park in Germany. The park is covered three-quarters by forests. About 100 lakes and many other still waters are located here. Within the national park, you will find a rich flora and fauna. Here, fish, sea eagles, cranes, or black storks can be observed in their natural habitat. The national park is fully developed. Numerous hiking or cycling trails, rest areas, observation points, and lookout towers line the area. A bus line runs from Waren via Speck and Boek to Rechlin-Nord. The Malchow swing bridge connects the island to the western mainland. After numerous destructions and rebuilds, the bridge was last renovated in 2012/13. The structure is about 15 meters long and opens on the hour to allow ships to pass on the Müritz-Elde waterway. The Malchow city harbor is located directly on the right bank of the Müritz-Elde waterway. Definitely worth a leisurely stroll!

Particularly recommended is the Malchow Folk Festival, which was declared an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2014. It is the oldest homeland festival in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and takes place on the first weekend of July. For 160 years, the focus has been on music, people, and community. Countless businesses, clubs, and citizens participate in an impressive parade. In the house that housed the "Film Palace" during the GDR times, today you will find the DDR Museum or the local history museum. Since 1999, the impressive exhibition has been continuously expanded. Numerous memorabilia on topics such as weddings, cinema, youth consecration, or school start are lined up here. The exhibition also provides detailed insights into the everyday work and vacation life of GDR citizens. A focus is also on the television, radio, and photographic technology of the 1940s. "Kiek in un wunner di" - under this name, you will find a museum of a special kind near the monastery church. Here you can see rarities and curiosities from the everyday life of the population during the first half of the 20th century. You can visit a complete cobbler's workshop, a print shop, or an old classroom. In the process, you will also learn about various curious items (Tefifon or cobbler's ball). Motto: "Touch, try, participate." The Organ Museum is also an interesting excursion destination.
