Checked in around 5 PM, the flat felt cozy and welcoming. Space was enough for us to move around easily. Loved sitting out on the balcony after a day exploring nearby St. Peter-Ording. Good place overall!

I was on site with my dog and was totally thrilled. The apartment offers everything you need. It was clean and well-maintained. Those seeking peace will find it here. In the village, there are supermarkets, so you can theoretically provide for yourself cheaply. For me, only the dog beaches or the expansiveness of SPO were interesting, and for that, it is a great starting point. About 15 minutes by car to SPO. I'm not sure, but there seems to be a train and bus as well. Whoever just wants to let their dog run around in the garden should consider that it is not fenced! Especially since there are other apartments. I would definitely like to come back.

What do you need to experience in Garding?

Tranquility with Highlights in Garding

Book a chic vacation accommodation on the North Sea or a house, an apartment, or a distinctive apartment with a balcony and modern facilities in the small town of Garding and do not miss the entertaining bike trip to St. Peter-Ording! The place is famous not only for its magnificent dune landscape and powdery fine beaches. Here you will also find a beautiful dog beach! The numerous pet-friendly landlords and hosts guarantee a relaxed holiday with your dog in Garding. Typical Nordic sights include the lighthouses. Among the most beautiful is Westerheversand, which you can visit on exciting tours by foot and bike. By the way, if the Westerhever lighthouse looks familiar, it's probably from the famous Jeva beer advertisement. Another worthwhile excursion takes you to Büsum. There, discover the picturesque museum harbor, home museum, beautiful old houses, and of course, the old shrimp cutters. From here, you can take a ship to Helgoland. A highlight of any holiday in Garding is a boat trip to the seal banks, offered by Adler shipping company. In Garding itself is the Theodor Mommsen Museum. The historian and politically engaged Mommsen was born here in 1817. He became famous for his scholarly writings and the founding of the first "Association for Combating Antisemitism." He is also the first German Nobel Prize winner in Literature! Stroll through the tranquil Garding and discover the many "Haubarge," the typical farmhouses of the region. Or visit the St. Christian Church, located on an 11 m high mound. It was formerly the highest tower visible from the water in the region and served as a landmark and lighthouse for sailors. Simply book a comfortably furnished vacation accommodation, a holiday home, an apartment, one of the villas, or an apartment with a balcony and modern facilities, in the best location in the holiday resort, and enjoy unforgettable holidays tailored to your personal wishes with your family in Schleswig-Holstein.

What can you experience in Garding with children?

Garding: Top Conditions for Cycling Between Dunes and Salt Marshes

In the holiday resort of Garding, a restful yet anything but boring holiday is guaranteed. Your child-friendly accommodation, whether it be an apartment or a holiday home in Garding, is ideally located for extended walks or hikes along the salt marshes, on the dike, or to the mudflats. Get on your bike, as wonderful cycling routes await you here. For example, ride to Friedrichstadt with its many architectural sights. Worthwhile excursions on foot include a trip to "Katinger Watt." It's not just for children; experiencing animals up close is a joy! Find this and much more at the "NaturErlebnisPark & Robbarium" in St. Peter-Ording. Check the calendar (homepage) of the animal park, where beautiful concerts and special events, such as trips to seal banks, are regularly offered. The inactive visitor center "Nationalpark-Zentrum Multimar Wattforum" in Tönning provides a lot of information and beautiful insights into the animal and plant life of the mudflats and salt marshes. Also consider a trip to Vollerwiek.

Where can I eat out in Garding?

Futtjes? Yes, please!

The cuisine on the Eiderstedt Peninsula is typically North Frisian or North German with some influences from Denmark and its own unique touches. Culinary specialties such as fish and the famous Büsum shrimp are part of it. "Halligbrot" with local butter, along with mussels or the North Sea shrimp, locally called "Granat," make up a typical Frisian dish! On the plates of your accommodation, whether it be an apartment or a holiday home with a spacious garden or on the beautiful terrace, you should try the herring in dill sauce and new potatoes from the region at least once. Not only fish specialties are served in Garding. A unique specialty is the "Updrögt Bohnen," which are prepared with bacon, Pinkel sausage, and potatoes into a delicious dish. The infamous "Labskaus" is also native here. In North Frisia, it is served with fried eggs and herring rolls. The local salt marsh lamb is a delicious specialty of the region - especially at Easter or in the summer when the "Lamb Days" are announced. If you have booked accommodation in Garding during winter, try the "Grünkohl mit Pinkel" at the first frost! For tea in the summer, enjoy the deliciously juicy rhubarb cake or the special "North Frisian Friesentorte," a culinary creative puff pastry layer cake with plum jam. Tasty and regional are the "Futtjes," which are fried from choux pastry with raisins, lemon, and cardamom. When real bad weather sets in, warm up with a "Pharisäer," a coffee drink with rum and cream.
