Delicious Knüppeltorten and Pork Cheeks

Self-catering in your holiday home or apartment in Tümlauer-Koog? Still, you should try the local Frisian cuisine. Northern Friesland was part of Denmark for a long time, which is why the region also shares culinary influences with its Scandinavian neighbor. The local cuisine is generally simple and hearty. Favorites include marinated fish and cured meat. Regionally famous are Holsteiner Katenschinken and Katenrauchwurst. From the shrimp port of Greetsiel in East Frisia comes the popular and tasty Greetsieler shrimp soup. Green beans with mutton is a high-summer and particularly hearty dish. Not exactly low in calories is Kehdinger bacon with dumplings. Kale with pork cheeks is a classic kale dish, often served with a shot of schnapps. When it comes to desserts, you should try the frequently offered rum dessert. Sweet delights also include the East Frisian Knüppeltorte or the Veiled Peasant Girl, made from chocolate, sugar, bread, whipped cream or quark, and jelly. Extremely delicious and a perfect end to a rich meal!
