A house with thatched roof, directly on the quiet side of Rügen
The thatched house Strandgut stands in Lancken, a district of Dranske in the northwest of the island. No through traffic, no holiday complex — just a thatched house from 2016 on 500 m² of its own, fully fenced property. On 120 m² of living space, six guests can stay, plus two small children.
Ground floor
The open living and dining area is the heart of the house: large dining table, seating area by the wood-burning stove, floor-to-ceiling windows with a view towards the Baltic Sea. Next to it, the kitchen, equipped like one you really cook in — oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and separate freezer, plus coffee machine, toaster, kettle, blender, and basic spices. On the ground floor there is also a bedroom with box spring bed (180 × 200) and TV as well as a bathroom with shower, WC, and washing machine.
Upper floor
Two further bedrooms: one with double bed 180 × 200 and direct sea view — the Baltic Sea first thing in the morning. The second is a family room with double bed 200 × 200, view of Hiddensee, and its own children’s nook with night light, small seating area, and children’s bed. In the hallway, a reading corner with a filled bookshelf awaits.
The bathroom on the upper floor has a bathtub and walk-in shower — and from here you go directly into the sauna.
Sauna and wood-burning stove
Both belong to the house and can be used at no extra charge. On Rügen, the weather can change, and that’s exactly when sauna and fireplace are the reason why you especially love the off-season here.
Garden and terrace
The property is completely fenced, the terrace faces south, garden furniture and grill are available. Parking is on the property.
With children
High chair, travel cot, children’s bed, children’s step, potty, and toys are there. Underfloor heating throughout the house, Wi-Fi via fiber optic. So there’s quite a lot you don’t need to pack.

Lancken is located on the Wittow peninsula, nestled between the Wieker Bodden and the Baltic Sea — the quiet northwest of Rügen, far away from the crowded seaside resorts in the east.
It is about 400 m on foot to the steep coast, from there a small path leads down to the water. The bay has fine sandy sections and is also a good place to look for stones and amber. Right next door begins the Kreptitzer Heide nature reserve.

Wiek harbor with restaurants and shopping — 5 minutes
Cape Arkona and the lighthouses — just under 20 minutes
Ferry to Hiddensee from Schaprode or Wiek

Wittow has a well-developed network of cycle paths. Dranske is also a well-known spot for wind and kite surfers, especially with easterly winds.

We have always been fans of the Baltic Sea. At some point, we ended up in the northwest of Rügen – in Lancken near Dranske, where the beaches are still wide and quiet and the hustle and bustle of the east coast is pleasantly far away. In 2026, a dream under thatched roof came true for us here. Because we ourselves like to spend our holidays in vacation homes, we know what matters: arrive, breathe deeply, miss nothing. That’s why we equipped the house piece by piece just as we would wish for ourselves – thoughtful, high-quality, and complete. You don’t have to bring anything along, the important things are here.
