Sleep like at home - simply to feel good

We enjoyed the vacation in the little house very much and felt completely comfortable. We were two people and the small room on the ground floor with the sleeping chair was our dressing room. Everything was clean, tidy, and furnished for comfort. Excellent mattresses in all 4 beds upstairs. We would have loved to take the couch set with us, it was so comfortable :) The friendly and very personal key handover upon arrival made us feel very welcome. We are already looking forward to our next vacation in this house. Thank you.

A beautiful family vacation with a lot of warmth.

We spent five wonderful days here with our daughter and felt comfortable from the very first moment. The house is lovingly furnished, the rooms are super cozy, and the already prepared fireplace made the evenings particularly nice.

What will especially stay in our memory is Moni's warmth. We were even allowed to spontaneously bring our two guinea pigs. Moni organized a stable for this purpose, so that the two could be accommodated in the garden. We thought that was really great!

There was also a lot for our daughter to discover. Right next door live sheep and chickens, and in the meadow in front of the house are Moni's two sweet ponies. A special experience was the joint trip with Moni to the nearby horse farm. Our daughter felt incredibly comfortable and enjoyed her time there very much. Even on the day of departure, Moni was completely uncomplicated. We could still explore the surroundings at our leisure and only pick up our things in the evening for the journey home. This way, we could really make the most of our last day of vacation.

We had a thoroughly lovely time. Especially Moni's personal and warm manner made our stay so special. You don't just feel like a holiday guest here, but truly welcome. We would love to come back and can absolutely recommend the house, especially for families with children!

Everything is great

A short vacation is recommended, we felt very comfortable.
On site, there was everything one needed, both in the house itself and for shopping.
Quiet side street.
The next short vacation will definitely be at Haus Mara again.
Best regards from Lemwerder.

Which sights are there in the Lüneburger Heide?

See Stone Age Relics from a Bird's Eye View

Lüneburg Heath consists of five heath regions full of natural and cultural attractions that cannot be fully explored in one vacation. In addition to exploring the landscapes, a visit to the open-air museum at Kiekeberg near Hamburg should also be on your list. North of Lüneburg is the technically interesting Scharnebeck ship lift with an information center and visitor viewing platform. The small museum village of Hösseringen (Uelzen area) is romantic and offers a real hands-on museum with many events, courses, and tours especially for children. The Brome Castle provides genuine insights into the former life at a medieval fortress. Not to be missed: Lüneburg Heath is ablaze in pink from "08.08. to 09.09." (easy to remember!), while the cotton grass blooms in May. For those who are not afraid of heights, the "Heide Himmel" treetop path near Hanstedt offers a brilliant bird's eye view of the forests and heath landscape (accessible). Attractions of a special kind include the prehistoric necropolises in Soderstorf, the "Seven Stone Houses," the "Prince's Tomb" at Oberhaverbeck, and the Oldendorfer Totenstatt.

What do you need to experience in the Lüneburger Heide?

Top Attractions: The Heath between Totengrund and the Leaning Tower of Lübeck

As expected, the highlight in this holiday region is the "Lüneburg Heath Nature Park." It represents the largest contiguous heath area and offers numerous attractions, beautiful hiking and cycling paths. The bicycle path network is excellently developed throughout the region and encourages beautiful day or multi-day tours. Among the top natural attractions are the Heidetal "Totengrund" and the Wilseder Berg. The heath village of Wilsede offers many beautiful photo opportunities, a clear MUST-DO for you. In the midst of Lüneburg Heath, you will find extremely noteworthy cultural monuments, including the town of Celle in the Südheide. Magnificent half-timbered houses, atmospheric alleys, and a Renaissance castle along with beautiful cafés and interesting museums can be enjoyed here in the cultural landscape. The same is true for the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg with its famous "leaning tower" of St. Johannis Church. Definitely worth seeing are the "German Salt Museum," the town hall from the 13th century, and the new "Lüneburg Museum" with its extensive collection. Last but not least, there is the "World Bird Park" of Walsrode, where about 680 different bird species live. Book a cozy holiday accommodation, apartment, or quaint holiday house now and enjoy an unforgettable vacation in an idyllic landscape between mountains, moors, heath areas, nature reserves, and amusement parks.

What can you experience in the Lüneburger Heide with children?

Safari and Skiing in Lüneburg Heath

Lüneburg Heath guarantees you and your family a beautiful vacation with a dog. So much nature, heath landscapes, nature reserves, and pleasant weather are good for your four-legged friend (and you!). You will notice the animal-friendliness of the heath residents by the many accommodations you can book with a dog. Solo travelers and families with children have wonderful opportunities here to relieve stress, enjoy nature, and still not miss out on cultural experiences during their city vacation in Lüneburg Heath. Numerous playgrounds and adventure playgrounds in the midst of nature ensure healthy exercise for the little ones. With older kids, you can plan climbing sessions, for example, in the "Höhenwegarena der Höhenweg" climbing park in the Westheide. The charming town of Bispingen in Heidekreis is surrounded by Lüneburg Heath and offers wonderful accommodations with direct access to bike and hiking trails. For even more fun and activity, there is the "Snow Dome Bispingen" adventure resort. On 2,800 m², you will find a ski hall and adventure golf, a fascinating vintage car exhibition, and an adventure labyrinth, an outdoor adventure park for the little ones, and model worlds with a huge model railway also for the big ones. Particularly worthwhile excursions include the "Wildpark Lüneburger Heath" with many native, endangered species (and exotics) and the "Serengeti Park" with African animals, which you can get close to as if on a safari. For those who can never get enough fun, there is the "Heide Park Resort" in Soltau. The Wilseder Berg is the heart of the heath. Here, on the highest mountain of the North German Plain at 169 meters, you can see as far as Hamburg on a clear day. Active vacationers have plenty of opportunities here!

Where can I eat out in the Lüneburger Heide?

The Cuisine in Heidschnucken Land

Are you familiar with Heidschnucken? This is an original old sheep breed that not only looks beautiful but also significantly contributes to the preservation of Lüneburg Heath. Heidschnucken have sustained the inhabitants of the heath in past centuries, providing valuable milk and meat, as well as warm wool. The heath region is one of the main suppliers of asparagus and potatoes. The so-called Heide asparagus and Heide potatoes taste delicious even plain with regional butter. Especially with "Sauerfleisch," a traditional dish of the heath, which is eaten cold as meat in aspic. It is served with homemade remoulade. Meat lovers can look forward to many tasty Heidschnucken meat dishes from free-ranging sheep. A must-try are the sausages made from them, especially the grilled sausages, which you can buy from excellent butchers here – and of course, grill in the garden of your well-equipped holiday home or on the balcony of your apartment. Heidschnucken meat is also used to prepare delicious goulash dishes. Another culinary specialty here is buckwheat, the grain of the heath. Extremely healthy, nutritious, and especially gluten-free, buckwheat has been rediscovered by many chefs. In Lüneburg Heath, it is used to make delicious pancakes, bread, and the specialty of the house: buckwheat cake with lingonberry jam and whipped cream… hmm. Try the delicacies and then take a stroll through the romantic old town.

What is a must-see in the Lüneburger Heide?

When the "Hurricane" Rages in the Heath

In and around Lüneburg Heath, many cultural events have been established that have regional significance. These include the "Höpen Air," an open-air music festival on an outdoor stage at Schneverdingen, which attracts up to 5,000 visitors. Performers have included Achim Reichel, Wolf Maahn, and The Keltics. A mega-event is the "Hurricane" music festival, equally popular among fans in England, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and Germany, held at the Eichenring motorcycle sand racing track. Up to 70,000 music enthusiasts gather here to listen to electro, pop, rock, and alternative music genres played by newcomers as well as real stars. Among the many noteworthy museums, the "Bomann Museum" in Celle stands out as one of the largest historical museums in Lower Saxony.

How do I come to Lüneburger Heide?
