Goethe once sent Faust and Mephisto from Elend to the Brocken in his most famous work. This path is vividly retraced here. From the Brocken, you can hike another 13 kilometers over the little Brocken, Scharfenstein, Eckertal, Molkehaus to Bad Harzburg. A vacation with a dog is also highly recommended. A great experience for the whole family is a ride on the Harz narrow-gauge railways. The longest continuous narrow-gauge railway network in Germany stretches 140 kilometers.
