Everything is just top!

Next time, a sauna day will be planned.

Super equipped little house with a lot of privacy

We spent five nights in the cottage in September and were very, very satisfied overall. The property manager is friendly and always reachable; both check-in and check-out went smoothly. The billing is transparent, and there are no costs that were not communicated beforehand. The equipment of the house is particularly great; the kitchen is fully equipped, and almost every kitchen appliance is available, including a sandwich maker and waffle iron. There are plenty of board games and books and a lot of accessories for the allowed animals. We brought a dog and a cat with us, and we wouldn't have had to bring much from home, even a flashlight for evening walks is available. We particularly enjoyed the private location; although the house is in a holiday park, both the terrace at the back and the front garden are hardly visible, and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of each other, but have space from the neighboring houses. Maybe we'll end up in Extertal again, and we will definitely get in touch here again!

The Hermannsdenkmal, inaugurated in 1875 near Detmold, is certainly the most visited excursion destination in the Teutoburg Forest, but by no means the only attraction in the region's woods. The monument stands on the 386m high Grotenburg in Hiddesen near Detmold. Hermann the Cheruscan prevented further advances of the Roman legions in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Also located on a prominent hill is the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument. It forms the "Gateway to Westphalia," the Porta Westfalica. In the surrounding area, numerous hiking and walking trails invite you to explore the woods. At Horn-Bad Meinberg on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest, nature has created a special attraction: the Externsteine. Fifteen jagged chalk sandstone rocks rise into the sky like Stonehenge. Some attractions are conveniently located right outside your private holiday home or apartment. The many historic city centers fascinate with their half-timbered and patrician houses in the style of the Weser Renaissance. A visit to the Trinity Monastery of the "Pink Sisters" in Bad Driburg is worthwhile. Although the monastery is relatively young, it is lavishly equipped. The former imperial abbey was elevated to a prince-bishopric and later, at the beginning of the 19th century, to a principality, whose lands extended far into the country. The cemetery here is the burial site of Hoffmann von Fallersleben, who wrote the "Song of the Germans," which later became the national anthem. Be sure to also visit Schwalenberg Castle or take bike tours through the Weser Uplands on dreamlike cycling paths. You can also tackle a section of the Hermannsweg, a long-distance hiking trail over 170 km, or visit Hameln.
