Location and surroundings of object
Location of the holiday home:
The holiday home is located right in the center of Zingst, with its main promenade and the many shops, bakeries, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, and boutiques. The main beach and the pier can be easily reached within a few minutes on foot.
Location of Zingst:
The Zingst peninsula is situated at the eastern end of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula on the Baltic Sea. It belongs to the district of Vorpommern-Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the region of Vorpommern. The municipality of Zingst, which is not part of an administrative district, encompasses almost the entire peninsula as well as the islands of Kirr and Barther Oie situated to its south. The municipality has been a state-recognized seaside health resort since 2002.
The Zingst extends for almost 20 km in length and 2 to 4 km in width from west to east, adjoining the Darß peninsula to the east. Accordingly, the famous fine sandy beach is also extensive, stretching for about 40 km along the Darß. At the international tourism fair in Berlin, the Baltic Sea spa resort was awarded as the world’s most popular holiday destination in 2010. Large parts of the town are traffic-calmed or designated as pedestrian zones.
Discover the unique natural landscape of the peninsula by bicycle, on foot, or by water. A special highlight in the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park is the autumn migration of the cranes. From September to November, tens of thousands of cranes gather in the shallow water areas on the coasts of western Rügen and around the islands of Bock and Werder. This makes it the largest crane resting place in Central Europe. Until their departure to their winter quarters, the cranes build up the energy reserves here that they will use on their long journey south. The large birds gather at roosting sites and spend the night standing in shallow water or on grassy islands, where they are protected from ground predators such as the fox. At sunrise, they fly to the feeding areas on the mainland, which can be up to 25 km away. At nightfall, the cranes return in groups to the roosting sites. During flight, they usually form wedge-shaped formations or line up in a long chain. The trumpeting flight calls of the adult birds can be heard from afar. The arrival of the cranes is an impressive, beautiful, and lasting experience for the observers.
You reach Zingst from the direction of Berlin via the A19 and from the direction of Hamburg via the A20. From the Rostock Ost motorway exit, drive on the B 105 towards Ribnitz-Damgarten. In Altheide, turn left onto the Bäderstraße (L21) towards Fischland-Darß-Zingst and follow it until you reach the Baltic Sea spa Zingst. With Deutsche Bahn you can reach Zingst via Ribnitz-Damgarten station and then by bus via the Fischland (travel time approx. 1.5 hours) or to Velgast station, then by regional train to Barth and further by bus to the Baltic Sea spa Zingst (travel time approx. 0.5 hours).
You can reach Zingst from the direction of Ribnitz-Damgarten with bus line 210. Location of Zingst:
