Vacation in Noordwijk

A great apartment to feel comfortable in. Very helpful, nice landlords who are always there to assist with questions. I am here for the 2nd time and would recommend it without hesitation. The location is simply great, very quiet and 3 minutes to the beach.

A true gem

This accommodation is THE discovery of all the vacation rentals we know.
In the smallest space, Rogier and Kim have created a functional and tasteful interior that makes the apartment feel very airy.

The kitchen equipment is more than complete and leaves nothing to be desired. The technology in the apartment (including induction stove, coffee machine, smart skylight) is unmatched. Of course, everything was spotless. The bed was also of very good quality and consistently comfortable. Additionally, thoughtful details were considered, such as fresh flowers, candles, etc., so that one felt comfortable right away.

We would especially like to highlight the warm and immediate care from Rogier and Kim. They were always available and quick to respond to questions - also with good tips. Thank you very much for that.

The location is also positively rated - it is only a few minutes' walk to the beach. Should we come to the area again, we will definitely book this vacation apartment again.

Great host! Great accommodation!

The accommodation is absolutely recommended. You live right in the middle of Noordwijk, and both restaurants and the shopping street are easily reachable on foot. The sea is also right at the door.
The apartment offers everything you need for a holiday in a vacation rental. Our dog was also warmly welcomed. :)
Our highlight, however, was Roy himself - he is a warm and very attentive host. Always approachable and helpful.

We would love to come back.

Which sights are there in Noordwijk?

Flowers Galore and Historic Cities

Noordwijk aan Zee is known as a flower seaside resort in the middle of Holland's tulip region (Bollenstreek). Depending on the season, the journey is through a true sea of colorful blossoms. The neighboring town of Lisse was first mentioned around the year 1200. Throughout the Netherlands, Lisse is known for its flower park. Thousands of visitors marvel at the colorful tulip beds in spring. The most popular excursion destinations from Noordwijk aan Zee are the cities of Leiden, Amsterdam, and The Hague, which are no more than an hour's drive away. Leiden is an old university town. Patrician houses line the canals running through the city. It is a real pleasure to stroll through the old alleys. In The Hague, the Dutch parliament and government are seated. However, Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. Amsterdam is certainly worth a longer holiday or several excursions. Rent holiday apartments and houses privately right along one of the many canals that run through the center. Just getting to know the city center takes a whole day. If you plan to visit one of the many worthwhile museums, you should allow more time.

What do you need to experience in Noordwijk?

Noordwijk for the Active with Subsequent Wellness

Zuid-Holland is a top destination for the active. Holiday homes and apartments privately located right by the beach provide the best conditions for surfers, dinghy sailors, and kite surfers. When the sea is rough, rafting in the surf is a highlight, while calm seas are perfect for stand-up paddlers. And after long walks on the beach and in the dunes, you'll look forward to your cozy accommodation with all conceivable comforts. Besides activities on and in the water, hardly anyone in Zuid-Holland can avoid cycling. Miles of well-maintained bike paths convince even those reluctant to cycle to take a ride. And when it's time to head back to your house against the sea wind, electric drives provide the necessary momentum. Especially in summer, the combination of coastal landscape and colorful tulip fields is captivating. After all the activities, numerous wellness offers await you in Zuid-Holland. With massages, crackling fires, fluffy fleece blankets, or in saunas and steam baths, you can forget about everyday life and treat yourself well.

What can you experience in Noordwijk with children?

Beach Holiday with Family and Dog

The region is particularly suitable for a holiday with a dog in Noordwijk. The magazine National Geographic lists Noordwijk among the 21 top travel destinations for a beach holiday at position 13. The dog-friendly nature of the seaside resort on the Dutch coast is particularly highlighted. In Noordwijk, you will find dog-friendly restaurants, hiking routes for dogs, and a dedicated beach section where dogs are not only allowed but can frolic and run freely. Many landlords of accommodations have pets themselves and welcome your dogs. And where pets are allowed, the whole family feels comfortable. Noordwijk aan Zee offers top-notch family holidays. Here, both young and old will find plenty to enjoy. The beach and sea right at your doorstep guarantee loads of recreational fun. If the weather doesn't cooperate, numerous holiday parks in Holland offer plenty of alternatives. Many holiday apartments and houses are equipped with separate bedrooms and a washing machine, making your family holiday in Zuid-Holland perfect.

Where can I eat out in Noordwijk?

From Bitterballen to the Finest Fish Dishes

What comes to mind first when you think of Holland and food? Of course, cheese. Besides, Dutch cuisine is famous for all sorts of fried foods: Poffertjes, Kroketten, and Frikandel. But don't worry, you don't have to survive on Dutch delicacies alone. Find a wide selection of restaurants, bars, and cafes near your holiday apartment or house. Noordwijk aan Zee is renowned for its diverse gastronomic scene. Enjoy a cocktail at sunset right on the coast or above the beach. In the bars, Bitterballen, small meatballs, are a popular snack with beer—a further Dutch specialty. Within walking distance of your apartment or house, there are numerous restaurants from budget to upscale, from cozy to cool, and from pizzerias to haute cuisine. Self-caterers who cook in the apartment or bungalow can shop in well-stocked local supermarkets. And as everywhere on the coast, there is a wide selection of freshly caught fish.

What is a must-see in Noordwijk?

Former Artists' Retreat and Rich in History

Around 1900, Noordwijk was a popular holiday and recreation spot for artists. The painter Max Liebermann was one of the most famous representatives of German Impressionism. In 1906, he painted the picture "Dune at Noordwijk with Child". The landscape painter Ludolph Berkemeier moved to Noordwijk in 1896. A few years later, the painter Emy von Briesen followed him. Today, the annual "Art in the Dunes" attracts painters, sculptors, and artisans to Noordwijk, drawing art lovers. Those interested in cultural history will find several local museums in the area: for example, the Museum Noordwijk, the Atlantic Wall Museum Noordwijk, and the Veldzicht Local Museum, which is housed in a historic farmhouse. One of the most famous museums in Noordwijk aan Zee is the Engelandvaarders Museum. During World War II, the Engelandvaarders were people who tried to escape from German-occupied Holland to England. The museum documents the fate of these people, their escape routes, and their later lives among the Allies. This exciting museum is located in a former German ammunition bunker of the coastal battery directly in the dunes.

How do I come to Noordwijk?

Perfect Connection by All Means of Transport

Noordwijk aan Zee is located between Katwijk aan Zee and Zandvoort on the Dutch coast. The most convenient and environmentally friendly way to start your holiday in Noordwijk is by train. Leiden station is 12 kilometers away, and Voorhout station is just seven kilometers from Noordwijk. From there, regular bus services run directly to Noordwijk aan Zee. Those who prefer to travel by car can take the A44 motorway to Randstad and from there to Noordwijk. There are ample parking facilities close to the beach and centrally located. Many holiday homes or apartments offer a private parking space. Especially during the peak season and conference times, it is worth renting accommodation with its own parking space. For those coming from further away, Noordwijk can be reached from Amsterdam-Schipool and Rotterdam airports using public transport. The city has become Holland's second most important conference destination, ensuring excellent bus and train connections from all over Holland.
