Idyllic Family Vacation

We (family with 2 children) were invited by my parents, who have vacationed here several times, to spend 2 weeks in Diemitz with the "Barn" as our holiday accommodation. Since I have been living in a rural area in the USA for several years now, and my husband, as an American, is a "country boy" :-), we felt right at home in "THE BARN" and the natural surroundings around Diemitz. Of course, it was great for our children that with Alba and Friedrich, two "natives" also have their home on the large property directly by the lake.
Our landlords were very nice and had a lot of understanding for our sometimes a bit wild and loud kids. We hope you can enjoy the peace that has returned now! ;-)
Anyone looking for a retreat from the stressful everyday life is exactly right here. Everything is available and can be used for free, what one needs on vacation and otherwise would have to buy and carry themselves (SUP, canoes, kayak, rowing boat possibly with motor support). There are also enough loungers and seating options available; guests can either "get out of the way" on the property or chat with each other and even celebrate. Those who have no opportunity to bring their own bicycles can have them delivered directly on site. The rental service is located in the neighboring town of Schwarz and is very reliable.
It is also nice that the village community, or some of them, have decided to revive the local gastronomy. If one doesn't feel like cooking every day or going somewhere for it, they can enjoy delicious food and sometimes even culture at Most & Kost. Normally, everyone is happy when they can take a vacation in the USA; we were very happy to be able to vacation in Diemitz with the entire family at the Tobien family’s place. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this. We would love to come back!

The Small Lake District on the border between Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg is worth a visit. We were able to do a lot in nature as well as explore towns in the vicinity of Diemitz. The relaxing location of our accommodation, the hospitality of the landlords, and the appealing holiday apartment were particularly impressive.

Perfectly suited for family vacation with dog

With our 4 children and dog, we felt very comfortable in the holiday home. Upon arrival, it was very clean, and the stylish furnishings with a fireplace pleased us all. The children's room is very nicely decorated for small children. There is an extra high stool in the bathroom.

The location is quiet, right by the forest, and it is only a few steps to the lake. The 2 bicycles are in good condition and were very much enjoyed by us in the holiday village. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to cook properly. We have rarely had such an extensive setup in a vacation apartment until now.

The vacation home was ideal for our dog; the mobile dog fence allows the garden to be completely fenced in.

The landlord was easily reachable and very friendly, making an effort to support us with problems, as we could not spend the vacation as planned due to illness. The health care in the village was also very good.

Our children enjoyed the activities in the holiday village. Bread on the fire and the go-karts that you can drive all around the holiday village were great.

A remarkable sight is the Mirow Lock as part of the Müritz-Havel Waterway. A lock keeper still operates it manually here. The lock is 6.6 meters wide and 56 meters long. It is also called the "Gate to Müritz" as it connects the small lake district with Müritz and the larger upper lakes. Between April and October, the lock gates open every hour during the day. Along with the rampart, the white Renaissance gatehouse was built in 1558. This was the only access to the island. Next to the church, it is the oldest building in Mirow. The Johanniter Church is a single-nave, Gothic brick building located on the castle island. After a fire in the 18th century, the interior of the church was designed in the Baroque style. It suffered further destruction during the war. Since 1993, the church has had a tower again, which can also be climbed. Or explore the impressive small town of Mirow on your own.
