The arrival was sometimes a bit more difficult, because the sat nav was not quite the right address but otherwise great. The accommodation was as described spacious, well equipped and clean. The environment has invited to go directly from the hut, only the weather was not optimal , The landlord is a very nice and uncomplicated person. For the sauna you have to bring your own aroma oil.

We arrived early and were already allowed in the cottage, were nicely received in a beautiful and spacious house. basement with special ski storage and changing room which is accessible from the outside is super handy! environment is breathtaking and we have very enjoyed our wintersport! highly recommended for the advanced skier, about 100 meters walk and you get on the slopes!

Old Guard, Heidenlöcher, and the most impressive gorge in the Alps

A striking sight near the town of Großarl is the Stegenwacht, also called Alte Wacht. The wooden gate building is the oldest surviving toll station in the region. A natural sight worth visiting during your vacation here is located on the other side of the Großarler Ache riverbank. In the steep rock face there, you will find five almost circular holes, the so-called Heidenlöcher. Supposedly, pagans once retreated there when Christians populated the land. The highlight among the sights near Großarl is the imposing Liechtensteinklamm – one of the deepest and longest gorges in the Alps. Access is via wooden stairs and walkways. The steeply plunging water conveys an exalted impression. A wooden spiral staircase winds 30 m down into the depths. In some places, the two rock walls narrow so closely that only a small gap reveals the view of the sky. In sunshine, impressive rainbows form in the spray mist of the waterfall.
