Beautiful house near the ski lift (but you need to take a car to get there). Fantastic spa with large jacuzzi, sauna, shower and deck. Wonderful.

Small items like dishwasher tablets, garbage bags, toilet paper were missing which is low cost, but annoying when not there. I would have expected this to be present. Furthermore the pots and pans and utensils were an allegory of sorts. Finally, the very bright light at the dinner table and living room were unpleasant.

Overall a good experience, but the owner could make it even better with small adjustments like mentioned.

We had a fantastic week at the chateau in Saint-Aubin-sur-Loire. It is beautifully situated and suitable for larger groups who want to enjoy a week of tranquility in and around an attractive chateau. When the weather is nice, the swimming pool offers welcome refreshment and entertainment, but we also enjoyed ourselves indoors on rainy days in the large, bright conservatory and spacious living room. The building breathes history and everything is there to cook for a large group for a week. There is also not much to do in the area but that was no objection to us given the entertainment available. Despite the fact that the country house is located on a road along the edge of a village, we had a good sense of privacy and we did not have to be afraid of causing noise nuisance at the pool. The maintenance leaves something to be desired; the paint is peeling from the ceiling, the house is covered with grubby carpets and much of the furniture is creased. The beds are not necessarily comfortable and the bedding needs to be replaced. Considering the price you pay for a week, a thorough refurbishment wouldn't be too much to ask; cleaning the mold in the bathrooms would be a good start. When checking out, we were greeted very kindly by one of the owners. However, in our opinion, he was too critical of the state in which we had left the house, especially given the sub-optimal state of hygiene in which we entered the chateau ourselves the Saturday before. Fortunately, this did not cause any problems with the handling of the deposit.

We enjoyed our holiday. A must for rest seekers and nature lovers. Nearby scenic cycling tours along the Canal de Nivernais. Auxerre and Vezelay are definitely worth a visit. The cottage was very complete, but rather we lay on the lovely sunbeds in the garden.
