Description
The Blauhaus is situated in a 25000 sqm park with a 200 sqm pond and a 12x6 m swimming pool in a tropically planted hall.
It is located on a foothill of the Süchtelner heights at an altitude of 86 m in the Schwalm Nette nature reserve with its numerous lakes, nature reserves, beautiful walking and riding trails and running, walking and biking routes (information material and maps are available). An 18-hole golf course can be reached in 3 minutes. In the immediate vicinity there are several riding stables with qualified care and training staff. Distance to the nearest towns: Düsseldorf 30 min, Krefeld 20 min, Mönchengladbach 15 min, Ruhr area (Duisburg) 30 min, Venlo NL 10 min.
The holiday home has an open floor plan with 131 sqm of living space on five different levels connected by a spiral staircase. The floors are made of natural stone and solid wood and are underfloor heated. From the car park one walks over paved paths through the park. You enter the house via a bridge and a small covered terrace. Protected from wind and weather, you can sit here in the fresh air, not only in summer.
On the ground floor is the kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, hob (4 burners), extractor fan, microwave, Jura coffee machine, toaster, citrus press, cups, plates, glasses, pots etc.. Up to eight people can be seated at the large red counter. A dining table with four designer chairs stands in front of the sliding door to the terrace. It can be pulled out and extended with additional chairs for six people.
The room also has a stereo system with large Bose speakers.
One level above the ground floor is the TV room with a sofa bed (fold-out 160x200cm bed for 5th and 6th guest).
One level below is the fireplace room with a seating group of Wassily armchairs.
In the bedroom one level down is a double bed screened off with a movable decorative screen.
On the same level is a dressing room with washing machine, ironing board and rotary clothes dryer.
The marble bathroom is equipped with a bidet and a large 2-person bathtub with whirlpool function*.
On the lowest level there is an additional bedroom with two single beds.

Location and surroundings of object
The garden has numerous secluded spots, a barbecue area and a bakehouse. It is largely accessible via paved paths and is situated in a beautiful landscape on a ridge with views of the surrounding forests, fields and villages.
Due to the surrounding flat Lower Rhine landscape, there are very big skies with fantastic cloud images and sunsets. Sometimes you get the feeling you could fly a little!
The swimming pool (6 x 12 m) is located in a 170 sqm tropically planted hall. It is not heated, it can be used (depending on the weather) from May to October by arrangement. It is equipped with an automatic chemical measuring and dosing station. The filter is rinsed every week.
A small sauna** with shower is also available by arrangement
The 25000 sqm park, swimming pool and sauna are shared by two other holiday homes (Blauhaus Galerie and Blauhäuschen).

Due to the very open architecture and the many stairs in the BLAUHAUS and the large pond with the narrow footbridge, the holiday home is only suitable to a limited extent for very small children and disabled guests.
Our interior is put together with a lot of love. Our rooms are therefore not suitable for alcohol-fuelled bachelor parties or similar.

Our guests are looking for peace and relaxation. We therefore attach great importance to mutual consideration.

Anders als erwartet...
Nach den vielen guten Bewertungen hatte ich mir eigentlich mehr erhofft. Etwas enttäuscht waren wir schon. Ständig war das Wlan weg, Fernsehen ging ab den ersten Tag nicht. Frau Henkel hat uns dann ihren Laptop gebracht, aber oftmals fehlte die Wlan-Verbindung. Das war echt nervig!
Ja das Bad müsste wirklich mal erneuert werden, dass ist kein aktueller Standard mehr. Mal schnell Haare waschen unmöglich. Man musste immer in die übergroße Wanne steigen, um an den Wasserhahn zu kommen. Die Armaturen müssten mal gewechselt werden, die sahen nicht mehr schön aus. Der Türrahmen im Bad total aufgequollen... Es war auch sehr kalt im Allgemeinen dort, da keine Heizung an war oder ein Handtuchwärmer. Das hat uns echt gefehlt.
Im Schlafzimmer hatten wir ständig den Luftentfeuchter an, ohne diesen war es nicht möglich. In der Ecke war es bereits leicht feucht. Ich habe alle 2 Tage den großen Behälter geleert und mindestens 2h vor dem Schlafen die Luftreinigung aktiviert. Ich bin sonst keinesfalls so kleinlich, aber hier war sonst kein ordentliches Schlafen möglich. Das Kinderzimmer mit den zwei Einzelbetten war auch nicht berauschend. Für mich war es mehr oder weniger nur ein "Keller". Ein bisschen leid tat mir mein Sohn schon.
Zum Glück sieht es auch jeder anders. Aber wir haben wirklich schon sehr viele Ferienhäuser/ Ferienwohnungen gemietet, aber dieses werden wir nicht nochmal nutzen. Wir haben viel Geld pro Tag bezahlt (ich darf leider den Betrag nicht schreiben!) und das war es einfach nicht wert! Für einige Euro unter den geforderten Betrag pro Tag hatten wir wirklich schon luxeriöse Unterkünfte.
Wir haben trotz allem das Beste daraus gemacht. Ein schönes weitläufiges Grundstück war es und die Gegend für Fahrräder gut geeigent. Auch ein Besuch in Venlo und Roermond lohnt sich.

Very nice house
We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday at the Blauhaus
The spacious grounds with their cosy corners are great
The morning swims in the fresh water got us fit for the day.
Especially the friendly dog Colin made the days very special for my grandson

A wonderful spot on earth
Our choice fell on this holiday home because of the photos, we fell in love with the pool and the beautifully designed cottage, as we were looking for something where we could holiday independently and also not have to put up with such a terribly long journey
We found a wonderful spot and were able to spend very nice days with Mrs. Henkel and her dear companion Collin. Just strolling through the enchanted park-like garden was enough to forget the rest of the world. And squeaking into the refreshing water of the pool every morning was also a great pleasure for us. The house is also so exquisitely designed

Perfect for a meeting with friends
We are 5 former school friends and meet once a year for a long weekend. This time we were guests in the Blauhaus. In this beautiful ambience we were warmly welcomed by our hosts Ulla and Wolf Henkel.
The house is, as you could already see in the photos, very tastefully furnished. Basic equipment is available in the kitchen (coffee beans, tea, vinegar, oil, spices, washing-up liquid, etc.). An information folder provides practical shopping, leisure and gastronomic tips.
As it was already getting colder in the evening, the landlord lit the fireplace for us. We were allowed to make ourselves comfortable with a drink.
The water temperature in the swimming pool was now perfect for waking up in the morning
There are numerous seating areas and deckchairs for chatting and relaxing in the huge park. We enjoyed harvesting our dinner from the vegetable garden: Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, courgette, artichokes, pumpkin, herbs - all organic.
A big thank you to the hosts Ulla and Wolf Henkel! We felt very comfortable with you.

Gourmet Relax at the Künstlerhaus
The Blauhaus and the two hosts Ulla & Wolf gave me unexpectedly fantastic days. Not only the location of the house in an enchanting landscape park on the only hill far and wide is spectacular, but also the house itself: there is a special corner for every mood, everything is aesthetically immaculate and yet never cool. The hosts, themselves well-travelled, know in every detail what it takes to feel comfortable in a luxurious way, without having to go to a 5-star hotel. For me, who seeks and needs balance after exhausting business appointments, a dream of contemplative silence. The whirlpool and sauna were immaculate and a blessing. And because of the greenhouse swimming pool alone, I have to come back in summer at the latest. Breakfast and the additional offer of a gourmet diner, which I took advantage of once, also deserve 5 stars: I usually only know unobtrusive hospitality combined with a high way of life from France. Düsseldorf city and airport are within easy reach, and the Hombroich Museum Island is close by for those interested in culture. All in all, a treat for all the senses and worth every diversions.

Great and fancy house
We spent a short holiday in this property as a couple. The photos posted by the Henkel family at least corresponded to the actual conditions. It is a great, clean and fancy designer house in open construction. The kitchen lacked a few small things (I don't deduct any points for the equipment), but our "list of deficiencies" was gratefully accepted and the kitchen was equipped accordingly. I find the number of towels in the bathroom and the bed linen provided without extra payment remarkably positive. I felt a cordial cooperation, the Henkel family was very interested in making us feel comfortable. I would like to emphasise the good location of the house on a very large property, but on the other hand not far from Viersen, Nettetal City and Venlo. We felt very comfortable and are looking forward to coming back in spring or summer to use the "big garden". We thank the Henkel family for their great hospitality.
